So my minor in Scenography is over... Thursday the event took place at AKV St Joost and I walked round the school with another pupil inviting individuals at specific times to our attraction. I dared myself to approach a real Dutch guy who I had seen everyday walk past our studio, even though he was busy talking to a girl outside in the sun and everyone stopped to stare! The visitors would arrive at thier given time walking on the red carpet into our Baroque installation where they were seated in an old Grandpa chair and given a heart on their plate to eat! At first piano music is playing in the room which changes to a heart beat speeding up to the heart projection on the wall and ending with a flatline. Men in real meat suits climb in the room and all the furniture comes alive and begins to move, scaring the visitors. Most feedback was really possitive, it gave students and staff a thrill but I got a little frustrated with our poor timing, between each visitor. Everyone was a little too excited and wanted to talk and laugh about it all so sometimes the surprise was given away! Still I really enjoyed working in such a wonderful team of students and will miss them whilst they are away on workplacements.
I now have 4 weeks to work on my own project and would like to collaborate wherever possible. I've offered to help a student out further with costume designs and another student is working on interactive art which I may somewhere be able to get some input or collaborative inspiration for my own work.
All week we have had such beautiful sunny weather, that it's making me so much want to go to the beach this weekend... we shall see!
