Sorry to all out there for the long time since posting a new entry! But the truth of the matter is that there's not been all that much to report and we've spent most of our time over the past week and a half sitting in our rooms watching Tv, eating and reading, and taking the sporadic walk....the reason for our lethargy has been down to the fact that both Emma and i traded turns being sick with head colds and throat infections. Poor us!! With heads bunged up, noses running marathons, and the feeling of having shards of glass lodged in our throats we've been a sorryful lot. Thankfully though we were in beautiful surroundings with nice temperature, good food, wonderfully cosy hotel with a ski-lodge feel to it -to anyone coming here you definitely must stay at Green Hotel!- and friendly Tibetans. Oh how different the Tibetan men are from the Indians ones we've met!! I'm probably treading on touchy territory here with what i'm about to say on a 'free-for-all-to-read blog' but, (to personally qualify my statement) in my experience, Tibetan guys are far friendlier, honest, and grown up than Indians. There's been no haggling over incredibly inflated prices whilst being here -despite it being high season- no persistent and rude touts (except for the odd Indian one!), no rude gawking stares at Emma, no begging, no juvenile behaviour from 30-40 groups of men, no banal pointless conversations just for the sake of talking to a white person...The Tibetans are so calm, genuine, gentle, respectful and honest; it's so refreshing to be in their company.
We've a week before Nikki arrives and we all head outta India and into the now-calm Nepal for some torturous trekking. We meet up in Delhi, which has succumbed to a heat wave and more power outtages than 'on-ages' (45C and no a/c!!!! gasp!!!) and so are making our way reluctantly from the hills towards the capital. Tonight we'll be on an overnight bus to Rishikesh which is the yoga capital of India (apparently 'cause the Beatles came here in the '60s) and where the Ganges originates and is actually clean&swimmable. We're arriving at the perfect time of year to catch the spring run off and so i think we'll be cooling off with a couple of days of white water rafting.
That's about it for now, best wishes to all!

every couple of days in the afternoon it'd storm down and we'd take refuge in our rooms.

comment from an "Indian"!
I agree with your comment about Indian men being sleazy, even though I am an Indian myself. I volunteered in Mcleod for two months last winter. They are far friendlier and genuine about their friendship than Indians. I miss that place Mcleod! - Dorjee
