Days 173-176

We got a boat over to Krabi and jumped on a bus to Ao Nang, a beach resort. We had no idea where we were when we got off the bus so went to an internet cafe to find somewhere to stay near where the girls would be staying. Luckily we were right by their hotel and checked into the one next to it. Ao Nang is very touristy but it was nice to be somewhere with a buzz after being on quiet beaches for the last month. We had a look around town, had some lunch and Stuart had a thai massage. We went to a bar to wait for the girls to arrive then we all went out for drinks and dinner. We booked a kayaking trip for the next day before headed back to our rooms.

We were picked up early and taken to the pier. We had an hour and a half boat ride to a little secluded beach in the middle of some stunning islands, where we stopped to snorkel. The snorkelling wasn't the best and we were a little put of by the massive jelly fish we'd seen when pulling into the beach!! We boarded the boat again and sailed around the amazing scenery to Hong Island. We had lunch there and then got in our kayaks to sail around the island, just as the storm was starting!! It was pretty rough out there, but was really good fun and the danger of falling into the rough jellyfish infested sea made it even more exhilirating! We went into a gorgeous still lagoon and then paddled back to the beach. We jumped onboard the boat, back to Krabi and were dropped at our hotels. In the evening we went out on the town and had a really good night which ended rather conservatively with us all reading newspapers in an irish bar - the only bar left open in town.

Woke up feeling a little worse for wear, we joined the girls by their pool for some sun bathing. We then all went on what turned out to be a mammoth shopping trip. It was the girl's last day here and in the evening we went to a restaurant and had a hilarious meal. Our food turned out to be disgusting and cold and the waiters were so rude. But we saw the funny side of it and wound them up by taking our time when they were trying to kick us out at 9.30!!
