Ok, so we arrived safe and sound in Bangkok airport and after a little while of being confused as to where to go for Taxis we jumped ina Bright Pink Toyota, complete with killer soundsystem, perfect for playing the 40 minute song which we were about to endure!

Arrived at Khaosan Road, the hub of the social action in Bangkok and were greeted by some serious smells and sights; the open sewers kicked out a real good stink and there were so many people trying to sell random stuff you will never ever need (wooden frog, fake poo that you throw on the floor...ping pong shows). Met our first lady boy at D and D hotel and heshe took my money for the room and the room only!

Our first night we spent aimlessly wandering around Khaosan and the surrounding backstreets where we would see people having massages, eating street food and shouting strange things in funny voices like they were possessed. After grabbing a bite to eat in a place which had an open bbq and lots of chicken(so i was happy!) we decided that a few beers were in order, followed by a little ping pong...we jumped on a Tuk Tuk (which is a little motorbike with a passenger kart on the back) and were driven by our new friend, Tony Montana, to the red light district...this was probably the most frightening experience of my life! Tony was not shy of giving it the beans and went flat out to try and get us to our destination kicking the back end of the kart out on numerous occasions. We were late for the final ping pong show and from what we hear it is probably a good thing as no man needs to see eels coming out of there...

Our next day was encompassed leaving Gibbo in bed whilst Jake and I went down for breakfast which was surprisingly good! We went to see some of the old temples and the grand palace and were not disappointed by what we saw. The reclining or "recycling" buddha, as Gibbo incorrectly called it, was far bigger than I thought it was going to be and I was genuinely really impressed. We then hit a river boat, inhaled some very toxic fumes and probably shortened our lives by a couple of years...honestly whilst these boats are chucking out these fumes there is no point in ever justifying buying a Toyota Prius!

Off to Koh Tao on an over night bus tonight as I think we have seen enough in Bangkok. Some photos to follow so stay tuned!

Tom x

"Safe"?
Hi Tom and the dog boys. Tom you said you arrived safely but doesn't seem particularly safe thereafter. I was in hysterics once I realised your new found fascination with table tennis was something completely different, Doh! Good quality first blog, keep them coming. Dad

Tom Great news you arrived safely! Had no idea Ping Pong was so popular over there! Trust you to find Thai Nandos on the first night bet it was certainly different though. Make sure to take lots of pictures and be safe. Love Mum x
