Hi bloggers
It's been a few days. Lyn got the Cambodia trots and was in bed for three days. Completely dehydrated and slowly dying - body giving up (slight exaggeration and not completely true!) but nevertheless very poorly. Celebrated on the Monday night with a huge Australian fillet steak and chips!!!! Bob has been fine but woke up a couple of days ago with a shaky voice and speaking to the kids became a bit of a problem as the louder he spoke, the squeakier he got and they kept laughing at him. A bit of an incident a few nights ago. We had a volunteer of short stature (Happy or Doc or something!). Got very drunk and passed out in his room and peed himself twice. As an older person was called up for my opinion. Some of the younger volunteers wanted to call an ambulance (are they kidding? out here?) and get his stomach pumped. Noooo he is just very pissed. Sam (vollie) undressed him although I did ask if anyone had their camera on them! Anyway he slept it off and got up early the next day and went to school - greatly admired. We then went out a few days later and the Cambodian mine victims saw him and stopped playing their instruments and were laughing and pointing at him as they remembered him being slung over the shoulder of Sam walking down Pub Street and then being tossed into a tuk tuk and laid across the bottom almost like a foot rest. He did see the funny side of it. He said "it comes to something when disabled and legless victims laugh at me". Later that night we all went to the fish tank where you sit in and the fish nibble away at your hard skin. In most of the other places the fishes were small but these were like small sharks. I really screamed like a big girl and got beside myself to start with but then quite enjoyed it. I am a person who wouldn't go swimming in the sea if there were fish in it. Bob didn't fancy it. It was only $2 and we all got a free beer and back massage.
The kids at school are amazing and so want to learn - so life at the school is relatively easy. On Friday, as it is Chinese New Year there is a bunch of us going to Ankhor What? (bucket bar and club) as they are hosting a New Year party. On Saturday we will be at the pool sleeping it off. Saturday evening we are going to Road 60 - big open space where Khmers go for BBQ. You sit on mats. There is a big wheel (I don't think so -health and safety) bumper cars and some sort of entertainment on a stage. We are taking Moueth and Meas, two brothers who are the security for the guest house. On Sunday there is a huge wagon truck picking up a lot of volunteers and we are off with Trailblazers to a remote village and make art with the kids. Apparently Bob and I will be making kites - as most of you know I am seriously not into handicrafts so anything could happen. Bob is enjoying his class with the older kids and their subject is Conservation. The next few weeks will be covering composting, soil testing, rocks and minerals! Sounds like a lot of fun to me - not!
Well that's all for now. Next time photos, maybe?
LOL Lyn and Bob xx

Happy to hear you are feeling better Ms.Lyn. It must be scary to be so sick and far away, but you have Dr.Bob there to comfort you. Be careful out there you both and take care of your selves. Love you, Gigi
