Hi everyone A big change in the weather - really serious electric storms and rain!!!!!! Although might sound refreshing it is still about 90 humidity. Teaching going great and have made a breakthrough with days of the week, colours and shapes. Bob has been teaching "The Body" and talking about digestive system and why poo is brown?etc. The older classes were taken out for the day and to even things up my pre school classes (a.m. and p.m) were taken to the "Kids Plaza" set up like a supermarket with lots of slides and ball pit with hanging bars and at the end they were all given 2 coins to go on the moving cars and animals and had a great time - such a simple thing but the excitement was amazing. I had to go ... read more

Hi everyone First good and bad news. Moeuth has come around a bit although unable to speak and use his right side. He has been brought back to Siem Reap and is currently in a nursing home (money donated and also small insurance from Globalteer). We hope to visit him tomorrow although we hear one side of his face is pretty smashed up - so sad as he is a good looking young guy and knows it (in a nice way). Still having great fun with the kids - just love it. I had a rabbit mask on last week taking the lesson!! Cries of teacher rabbit and me jumping around for a few minutes. Bob is teaching rocks and minerals (I am still happy with ABC's and counting) and really enjoying it and taking it ... read more

Hi all Just to let you know that there was a mistake re his name on the virgin giving site. It should be www.virginmoneygiving.com/moeuth. However, it doesn't look as though the site has been properly set up yet just keep trying if you wish to donate. We will try and find out more information tomorrow morning when the office is open. Just returned from our Valentine evening. We went to the night market on the street and had dinner for $1 each - Bob really knows how to show a girl a good time!!!!! but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy Valentines Day! Lots of news. Firstly, Friday before last went out for dinner had a backadee Bob had a beer, then on to Khmer Family (2 drinks for the price of 1) I shared with Holly and Bob drank two Mojitos. We then moved on to Angkor What? I ordered a bucket of Backadee and sprite and Bob ordered a beer. When the bucket arrived it was whisky so I asked Bob to change it but he decided that it tasted nice and drank it!!!!! A couple of hours later he was very drunk and I had to take him home in tuk tuk. Got home and the very small Cambodian Meas partly carried him up the stairs. After a lot of vomit and sink blocking and falling asleep in the bathroom he went to ... read more

Hi bloggers It's been a few days. Lyn got the Cambodia trots and was in bed for three days. Completely dehydrated and slowly dying - body giving up (slight exaggeration and not completely true!) but nevertheless very poorly. Celebrated on the Monday night with a huge Australian fillet steak and chips!!!! Bob has been fine but woke up a couple of days ago with a shaky voice and speaking to the kids became a bit of a problem as the louder he spoke, the squeakier he got and they kept laughing at him. A bit of an incident a few nights ago. We had a volunteer of short stature (Happy or Doc or something!). Got very drunk and passed out in his room and peed himself twice. As an older person was called up for my ... read more

Hi dear friends Well we have now been teaching for one week - didn't take long to get back into it. Lovely being with the pre-schoolers as most of them are still in that class. I am working with Paula (New Zealand girl) and we have so much fun with the kids at the same time teaching alphabet, maths, colours, animals etc. Bob is teaching the older kids 12-15 yrs. This last week he has been teaching them about renewable and non renewable energy - so happy doing ABC's!!!!! Last Tuesday we had a visit from the Monks to bless the new Womens Centre and were all invited to attend. Lots of chanting and throwing water over us. A bit weird really becos as we left the monks came out lighting up fags!!!!! During the lunch ... read more

Hi dear friends Well we have arrived and have settled into it very quickly. A small problem arriving. Our flight from Heathrow was delayed by about 30 mins due to the cabin crew held up by traffic - I wouldn't mind but we got up a 5am and made it. Don't they know about London traffic!!! On arrival in Singapore an airline official met us and told us to hurry for the flight to Siem Reap. We ran a bit then were ushered into a buggy when the officer put his foot down and drove like a maniac through the airport (probably only about 15 miles an hour). Managed to make the plane minus luggage!! Thankfully it arrived the next afternoon but in the meantime had to borrow some lime green pantaloons with a pink T ... read more

Hi all Well we are now back home (last Wednesday). A bit of a set back on our return journey - they brought out flight to England forward so no time to catch it after landing in Bangkok from Cambodia. Eva airline booked us into a Novatel hotel with complementary dinner and breakfast. Very swish and posh but we just wanted to come home! On the Wednesday Bob and a few other volunteers went to Angkhor Wat (Cambodia's national temple monument) to catch the sunrise. He left a 5 am but it was a big disappointment as there was no red sky and the sun was quite high in the sky before it appeared behind clouds and dust. On the Thursday myself and two other volunteers decided to have a party with the kids on my ... read more

March 21st 2010

Hi dear friends Firstly did not get to Battambang as Bob was ill with a very bad cold and chest. Selfless as usual he then passed it on to me. Bob stayed in bed for the day and evening and I went out with a few of the other volunteers. Within a few days I went down with it - this virus was a lot stronger than we get back home. Anyway all is well now. Bob went horse riding with a bunch girls and really enjoyed it. Fortunately the horse knew where he was going as he wasn't in control. Cantering was fun and he didn't fall off! Big celebrations here in Siem Reap for St Patricks Day which was also one of the volunteers birthdays and his parents are Irish. Unfortunately, Lyn was ill ... read more
