2nd leg: Atlanta - Starr, SC 2 hours
Once again, Atlanta rush hourTRAFFIC. I am not sure what I was thinking leaving at 4 pm. It took me an hour to travel 15 miles. My friend, Susan, is a realtor and uses a program called Streets and Maps (I think that is the name) to map out my route to very rural South Carolina. It was perfect. I ALWAYS get lost when I am going to Tina’s (in Starr, SC) and this map got me there. Tina lives on a dairy farm. She loves to garden and has so many beautiful flowers. Davis, my daughter's cousin and the owner (with his father) of the dairy farm, is going to start making bio-diesel fuel to run all the farm equipment. Tina and I took a walk in the morning along the country roads surrounding her house. The roads were desolate, hilly and surrounded by woods and farmland. Davis’ three dogs (Two-Step, Lainie, Beau) followed us around chasing after cows, trying to round them up. After our 7 am walk, we had some oatmeal and I packed up. At about 11 we went to a place near Tina’s (keep in mind this is in the middle of nowhere, rural SC) to eat lunch. The place we had lunch was called The Gray House, it was Bed upstairs and Restaurant down. They served “home cooking”. I had a vegetable plate which included green beans, some kind of buttery beans, a small watermelon slice, mac and cheese. Dee-licious. And for desert, a slice of red velvet cake. All this for $5.00. Even the meat (turkey and stuffing, beans and mac) is on $5.00. I love deals like that. After lunch I headed over to the Anderson YMCA (the nicest Y I have ever seen) to work out and to get a shower before heading to Asheville.
