Gabriela and Arturo
Arturo's brother is in the orange and white shirt. Arturo was very nervous before the baptism. On December 12 (also Sue's Bday) is the celebration of our Lady of Guadalupe. It was also the baptism day of Jimena Guadalupe's, the granddaughter of our Gabriel (park maintenance) and daughter of Gabriela and Arturo (Gabriela daughter of Gabriel). Like in the States, it is a big deal and the little girls are dressed to the nines for the occasion. On this day we counted about 14 baby girls and one boy baptized. Of course, we got there before most of the parents arrived for the ceremony which was to begin at about 12 noon. Some of the parents straggled in almost an hour late. But not to worry the babies were taken care of and no need to worry about babies in Limbo (oh, yeah, the church ruled that out). Anyway it was an interesting ceremony and the priest was very nice about everyone taking pictures. After the ceremony, Gabriela had invited us to their home but we had the carpenters coming to do some work so we missed out on that. I learned that they were disappointed but that they really did not have a lot of food to share. Sad. But will catch up on our Christmas
party we had for the workers here next time!
