Yes, we are still alive and kicking here in BCS. I have even had some inquiries from folks wondering if we were OK since I have been lazy about getting a blog out! I certainly have no excuse about being too busy as I find myself pondering how the day has once again slipped away without accomplishing a damn thing! Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days I teach Spanish here to some residents in the park. That takes about an hour of my time. Then after that some of my 'students' hang around to chat. By then it is noon. Then someone else may stop by for a visit--Rogelio is almost a constant! So there is another hour gone........And so it goes.... Wind has been a major pain in the *&^! Hola....all is well here although we had a very interesting night last Sunday. We tend to have campfires on the beach every other Sunday and it has all worked out very well so far. However last Sunday, things got very strange. About 10 of us gathered at about 7 pm and were just conversing about whatever we were going on about when this very strange character approached our fire and was playing this flute and blabbering about the coming of Quetzalcoatl-- a white god who appeared to the Aztecs many, MANY years ago. First, Happy Birthday to my sister, Maureen! Hope it was a good one!!!! The last few days here have seen big doings w/ the big Lord of the Wind Showdown which has attracted a few kiters. I can't really say that it has brought in a lot of extra folks but for a first year event, it has been kind of fun. The only bad thing is that they have blocked most of the beach from quads and other traffic. We watched a few of the competitions, but I am just not that interested in it. Certainly the wind has held up VERY well for the activities. We only hope that it does not get to be TOO big of an event. Greetings and salutations from the Baja. I am finally feeling better after having gotten my hands on some "contraband" antibiotics. Seems now that you can no longer buy antibiotics or any other meds for that matter over the counter . Fortunately a friend in the park had some antibiotics and I got started on them immediately Christmas Day. Sore throat, ear ache, lots of fun stuff. But am on the mend now. I got a new hibiscus plant and planter and hope that it won't die! It is really pretty and I got a new bloom today. The other one is white but that will be awhile before it blooms. Last Saturday, the 18th, my friend Betty and I decided to host a little gathering for the park workers and their families to show our appreciation for what they do here in the park all year (for the first time all of my plants survived!!). Betty provided her place and turkey and together we prepared salads, breads and provided drinks. As a special surprise, we had made sugar cookies and told them about our tradition at Christmas and invited them to help decorate the cookies. We had about 8 children there and they loved it. The park owner, Cesar, and his girlfriend, Cynthia, joined us as well.
