Queenstown - I can't remember how many times I heard of this name when I do my overseas travelling, perhaps Queenstown is somewhere very unique, relaxing, fascination, fun sports, beautiful, full of tourists and expensive, in relation to the rest of New Zealand, and eventually I arrived Queenstown with my very high expectation.

This town is also famous for its commerical bungy jumping and the movie "Lord of the Rings", where many of the shots were filmed in this area. This place is full of tourist especially in winter because of the skiiing, so apparentlly Queenstown is not just all about jumping off stuffs only.

Very strange when arriving Queenstown in winter after 10+ hours flight from super humid Hong Kong, and when we touched down at Queenstown, the temperature was shocking me : -5c.

The hotel I booked was 4-star Mercure on recommended, located only few minutes away from the centre, and free shuttle provided every 1 hour running between the town and my hotel. My room was gorgeous overlooks the magnificent huge crystal clear Lake Wakatipu and snow capped mountains.

I visited the famous Minus 5 Bar, which is similar to the Ice Vodka Bar in Sweden and Romania, the selling point of this bar is, from their furnitures, tables, floors, walls, chairs and even their glasses, are made from ice, so breakable and you can actually throw your glass when you finish your drink and break it. In order to keep all their "furnitures" well , the bar inside is always set at -5c but I didn't feel anything at all as it was also -5c outside.

Next day morning, we woke up at 7 and caught a 8am bus to Cardrona, a famous ski resort about 1 hour away from Queenstown. It was a very boring cloudy day in Queenstown but as soon as we were on the top of the mountain where the ski resort located and we were in bright blue sunshine up there - However I've found skiing was not fun at all.
