DAY 17
Got up this morning at around 7am, had brekky, packed and checked out. Got on the road by about 8am, filled the car with petrol and hit the I-10 to Houston. The trip was going to be quicker than we thought - only about 3 ½ hours. The drive wasn’t too bad and it was coming in to quite a populated area. We got in to Col and Shona’s by about 11.30am. Got all our stuff out of the car, had a tour of the house, the boys played a game of pool and we had a beer. Col then drove us to Cedar Creek which is a really cool pub near their house. It had a nice outdoor area and we got 2 buckets of beer between us - Corona and a Texas local brew called Shiner. I really quite liked the Shiner. We grabbed lunch there as well, we all had burgers and my veggie burger was good - didn’t expect to find a good veggie burger in Texas! After we finished all the beers we came back home for a bit of a rest before dinner. David, Col and Shona’s neighbour called in after he finished work for a beer and was coming out for Mexican with us. We got changed and headed out.
The Mexican restaurant was really nice, and the food was good. I got spinach enchiladas with black beans. YUM. Of course, we had to indulge in a few margaritas, and we ordered the big ones. Over the course of the night, we all had 3 of them (except Col who was driving). So we were pretty drunk by the end of the night. The waiter at the place really didn’t want to keep serving us and was even trying to take Shona’s unfinished margarita away. On the way out i stole a peppermill, but left it in the carpark on the way out. It was a great night and good to have a few drinks with Col and Shona!!

DAY 18
Woke up feeling a bit worse for wear, definitely my first real hangover of the trip! After a shower and some eggs on toast i felt a bit better. We then proceeded to have a nice lazy day. We watched the first 3 episodes of Dexter which were AWESOME. Had some yummy cheese/tomato/onion melts for lunch. We headed out to the local shopping centre The Galleria just to check it out. It was massive, but had similar shops to back home. We also stopped in at the Cheesecake Factory for a smoothie and a piece of cheesecake to share. On the way home stopped at Best Buy and a place to buy some hand luggage to fit all our extra crap in!!
By the time we got home and changed, Colin arrived home shortly after and we headed out to a nice Steakhouse for dinner. Everyone got steak, except me of course; I got mushroom ravioli which was really nice. The food was good, the wine was good and it had a nice atmosphere. Once we’d finished dinner, headed over to a local bar called anvil that makes really nice cocktails. Even on a Monday night at like 10pm it was still fairly busy. We ordered a mojito each and it was cool watching the bartender make them, it was like a fine art. The drink was really nice and refreshing - worth every cent! We only had one drink as we were all a bit tired and ready for a quiet night. So we headed back home and watched the latest episode of Dexter...which was awesome!!
