Leaving Cleveland after breakfast in our trusty hire car, Steve, Jo, Rich and I took to the highway to Canada. It took us around 4 hours to find our way and after a few cheeky comments to border control (from Richard) we were allowed to enter the wonderful country that is Canada.

Cheeky comments as follows:-

Security Guard “Why are you going to Niagara Falls?”

Richard “To see Niagara Falls” (said with the tone of - are you completely stupid?)

Security Guard “Do you have any firearms, knives, mace or pepper spray?’

Richard “No, but we passed a shop back there but we didn’t stop, we kept on driving”

We very quickly realised that our hotel was literally overlooking Niagara falls and we had all of about 45 mins to check in at our hotel and race down to the last sailing of Maid of the Mist for the day - we just made it and it was such an amazing experience. The 20 min experience of being up close to the falls combined with the feeling of being in a washing machine as the boat headed into the Horseshoe Falls getting us completely soaked - what a laugh!!!

In our soaked attire (which was mildly assisted by the plastic blue ponchos they gave us to wear) we meandered back along the promenade taking in the sights of these powerful and scenic waterfalls.

After all our hard work we ventured to TGI Fridays to celebrate with a round of beers and ribs. Would have been rude not too.

Did we mention that our double hotel room we shared with Jo Jo and Steve overlooked the falls and Steve kindly woke us at 7.30am to make sure we saw the sun rising over the falls (it was spectacular).

A really lovely day spent in Niagara - we could have done another day for sure but fond memories!!

The photos really don’t do it justice but check them out anyway!

Niagra!
Hi everyone! They are great aren't they, and you are having so much fun. I thought you could see the falls from the American side rather than crossing into Canada, but a good experience to do so. The border controls are heavy dudes, looking for a scrap, I reckon. We got stopped and finger printed, but then they were the US guys and maybe you got the nicer Canadian ones. I'm not biased though. Do they go on a lot about the "homeland"? Painful. Fantastic photos. XX M/C
