What can i say about Kava, Fiji's traditional drink? It looks like muddy water, it tastes like muddy water, in fact it tastes like muddy water that all the villagers have washed their feet in first. If there's one thing I've learnt during the past 7 months travelling its this, if any food or drink is described as "traditional" it tastes like feet. Every house, village, special ceremony you go to, you get offered Kava and its considered rude not to drink a bowl once offered. So down the hatch it goes, close my eyes and think of England. Which is what I'm doing more and more now its only a few weeks away! Got a few pictures of me enjoying a nice bowl of Kava, shame you cant quite capture the sound of gagging!

Passed my Advanced Diving course in Mango Bay resort, bit of posh luxury before hitting the smaller Fijian islands. Did a 30 meter deep dive and a night dive which was a bit spooky. Saw 3 large white tipped sharks and strategically maneuvered myself behind my instructor until the coast was clear!

Just got back from island hopping. After 5 days of saltwater showers and minimal soap usage, i practically have dreadlocks! Enjoyed a bit of frog and crab racing to pass the time. Favourite quote of the week "yay we all have crabs!" after a successful night of racing! Also did some jungle trekking, horse riding, coconut jewellery making and visited a mud baths.

Went for a cave massage on one of the islands. Thought it might be something fancy but was exactly as described, a massage in a cave. Took me a good 5 minutes in the dark to realise an entire Fijian family were eating lunch about 2 meters away from me. Apparently that didn't mean a discounted rate either.

There is a lot of dancing in Fiji, mainly by young men in grass skirts covered in baby oil and big......smiles. Took a few extra pics just for Hazel and Pauline, try not to get too jealous ladies ;0)

Very expressive pics Alice- you obviously love the local liquor! Beautiful sunsets and scenery, but not soooo impressed by the grass skirts. Preferred the fisherman at your last venue! Well done on your diving skills- you certainly are "action Alice". Enjoy America . Pxx
