We didn't surface until after nine, and tucked straight into breakfast, which consisted of muesli, croissants, and Dutch cake (which Beck loves). Then we looked through Henny and Theo's photo albums of Australia.
Lenny was throwing a party for us at her place which nearly all of the relatives were coming to, so we had to be back to her place by twelve.
The first to arrive were Edwin and Rachel, and their kids. Beck could remember Edwin from when she was out ten years ago. Not long after it seemed like everyone turned up altogether. It was pretty awesome to think there was four generations in the one place, from Tonte Lene down to little Misha, who I've bestowed the nickname 'Bam Bam'.
Beck and I had a photo with all of the Tontes, and Tonte Lenie made sure I wasn't going anywhere with a firm grip on my leg. Later on Tonte Lenie joked (I think) to Beck that I should trade in the new for the old, or at least that is how it was translated!
I wasn't sure how I would be received, but everyone was fantastic to me, and made me feel like a part of the extended family. Of course the obligatory Heinekens, and then red wine also helped.
I have been making a real effort with my Dutch, and I think they all appreciate that. I can understand more and more of what they are saying in Dutch, but it is harder to actually speak it.
In the evening the cards came out again, but I didn't fare much better, much to the delight of my opponents. It wasn't that late an hour when we said goodbye to everyone, cleaned up a little, and headed for bed.
It was great of Lenny to organise such a day, and it was great to see everyone from four generations get along so well.

meeting Danny and Beck
Hi travellers, It was very nice to have met Danny an Beck, I'm Edwin, the nephew of Beck's father, My mother, Mieke is the sister of my uncle Bert, Beck's Grandfather. It was very nice to talk with Beck en Danny, it's quite strange to have a family at the other side of the world wich have a completely different kind of living, settings and habbits. Although one habbit is quite the same, loving to have a nice cold beer !! Nice to see and hear the stories. And amazing to see you can marrie in such a setting with such weather. The dutch weather and settings are quite different from that. It is nice to see that we have such a nice and social, easy to talk with family, also at Autralia. Off course we met them all about 10 years ago, but then the autralian and dutch part were younger and it was difficult to remember for me. Also lots of things change in 10 years, Beck is a "big" married woman now. And has a great guy like Danny. My life has also changed a lot since then, Got married with Rachel and having 3 kids now (1 girl, two boys). Having my own small grafical company. Hope to see you again in the future, with lots of talking and nice beers, Bye Bye, Edwin
