"If I have learned anything from cycling it is to always spit to the side."
- Bryan Flint, April 2006

There is an allegory to the statement "Be careful for what you wish for because you just might get it." It is "Be careful what you disparage, for it might just be the thing you need."

On Sunday night I stayed at a Hostel connected to the Dzogchen Beara Tibetan Buddhist retreat center on the Beara Peninsula on the Southwest coast of Ireland. On Tuesday I returned and am staying to participate in a Buddhist retreat over Easter Weekend.

There are number of reasons for this. First, after eleven days of travel and nine of cycling my body told me to stop. Second, Hostels on the outer West coast of Ireland are a whole other animal then those in town and cities. Third, This place felt like home, at least for now. Fourth, I had real conversations with people for the first time in weeks - art, politics, culture, submarines, you name it. Plus Buddhist women are cute.

Early next week I will have more time to write about the past weeks adventures, including country western music in Ireland. That is if I don't end up signing up to become a monk and dropping all my worldly connections. Who knows where this could go.

So, here are some pictures. Also, I love all the comments people send. They do not get posted until after I see them, so there is a delay. Make sure to check back on the comment section to see what others have posted.

Sounds like a great change of plans, Bryan. I hope you're eating enough. You must have been burning calories like mad! Any desire to stay on this side and hang out for the Tour de France? I'm envious of your bike trip. What a fabulous way to see Ireland. Enjoy your retreat. Can't wait to hear all about it! Happy Easter! Love, SP

Retreat
Bryan, may your retreat be peaceful, illuminating, comforting, and expansive. I thought of you today as I made some gluten free pancakes.
