We went to visit the Frick Collection. Henry Frick was a very wealthy industrialist who built a beautiful home on Fifth Avenue in 1913 & 1914. He only lived until 1919, but over his life he gathered an amazing art & furniture collection. I can’t recommend enough visiting this house when you are next in NYC.

We had lunch in a diner nearby! It was actually really nice.

We also went to the garment /textile area and went to Mood Fabrics. My friend Sonia told me about this place - OMG! Even Matt (who avoids places like Spotlight & Lincraft like the plague) was blown away. Hidden up on the 3rd floor of an old building with old fashioned elevators that have an elevator operator! The selection and sheer volume of any type of fabric imaginable was just amazing. 37th West Street was great too - all the clothes and accessories shops.

We went to Penn Station to work out where we need to go tomorrow morning, to catch the Amtrak train to Washington DC. It’s like an airport for trains! Massive.
Our feet hurt!

Going to head off to pack up and get ready for the next part of our adventure - Washington DC!

Hi Matt here,
Yep the Frick collection was great even if it took some convincing to get Emma there, one of the only accessible private mansions in NY with an amazing collection of art, in his will, Frick had put in place enough funds to turn his home into a museum that would forever be maintained and open to the public, other large museums borrow works from his home it’s that amazing.

We went to a scary big material shop, lucky for me Emma has run out of suitcase room already.
It has started raining and cooled down a lot today, I have really loved NY but I’m starting to feel I’ve had enough, too fast placed for this Adelaidian. Looking forward to jumping on the train and getting to DC.

One last note on NY, we got Metro 7 day passes for $27 the day we got here, the best value of all, we have travelled all over and back more times than I can remember, too easy.
