Day 1
A day in the air!
We were fortunate enough to have the front row seats in economy on the flight to LA.
The upside, heaps of leg room, eg. If your leg was stretched out straight your sole would reach the wall in front. The downside, we could see 1st class - now that looks like the way to fly!
We switched to the domestic terminal in LA - did you know you have self serve check in? It was just like using those new self service check outs at Big W or Coles. So after scanning our passports and checking in via touchscreen, we put our bags on the conveyer and went on in.
We had no dramas entering the US, customs etc, the security people seem much more concerned by anyone of middle eastern decent. (They all got bailed up and had to undergo the explosives hand swaps etc in this little holding pen area).
We got a cab to the apartment - pretty organised system, the taxi organiser at the airport gives you a card with your fare on it before you get into your cab - a flat $45 from JFK to anywhere on Manhattan.
Easy.
There was an envelope waiting for us with the doorman. We made our way to the apartment and were so excited. It is perfect. It has a great corner window and the view is of the UN.
We slept very well and felt at home and completely safe and secure and relaxed.

Hey guys, great to hear you had a hassel free flight and entry, it only goes well for a great trip.... I'm soooooo jealous. While I'm typing this entry you will be at the Yankees game, hope you get a game ball...... The apartment looks great, enjoy and cant wait for your next blog.... Oh did I say I'm soooooo jealous????? Dont forget "The Australian" 20 West 38th Street, post photo of you having a coopers and say Hi to Ken the bar manager, He may rememeber me if you say celebrated 40th in Vegas and was at bar for Anzac Day 2010.....
