We made it to the coast today....approximately 2800 mi from home. We're not even halfway though our trip! Started out at 8 am today. Ate free breakfast at the motel. I thought we would run into some traffic around Oakland and Berkley but I-580 was smooth sailing. We exited the freeway to CA-1, Shoreline drive around 12pm. Saw the beginnings of some of the redwoods but won't really see the big stuff until tomorrow's ride. We arrived at the Olema RV Resort at 1:30 pm. Nice shady and wooded lots....my favorite. Not crowded either since it is Tuesday and by the way MY BIRTHDAY!

We set up the camper quickly and headed for Point Reyes for lunch. The population is 350. Very quaint town with a few shops and restaurants. Found one the had dining outside under arbors with wisteria in bloom hanging from them. The season is later here so spring stuff is blooming! They had red hydrangas. Everything they serve is certified organic. Welcome to northern CA. I do have to say they make a great veggie burger. The people are so friendly too.

After lunch, we drove the 20 mi twisty road to the Point Reyes National Seashore Lighthouse. Beautiful coastal views and very windy and cold. I stuffed Piper down my jacket. We had to walk about 1/2 mi to the point to see the lighthouse as it was closed today. The walk was worth it. Another great scene. We headed back to the campsite after that for the evening. Looks like we'll crank the heater up tonight.
