We're now in Rome after 4 nights in Florence.

We're getting a bit down on the big city feel, which I think is due to venice being so different - coming back to the real world is a shock!

Florence was still great fun, its hard to remember what we did actually. We checked out all the main sights to do with art, saw some statues of ninja turtles dressed up as rennaissance artists and the like.

Did a bit of shopping on the Ponte Vecchio! but thats another story for when we meet face to face.

Took a lovely day trip out to Siena. the 1.5 hour bus ride was small mountain followed by small valley that looked exactly like every pasta sauce bottle you could ever imagine seeing. Tuscany really is an amazing landscape that you dont really know that you know so well.

Anyway this blog is all a bit stop start because I'm on limited time but the highlight would have to be realising the last day we were in florence coincided with the start of the annual gelato festival. Brilliance. So Gelato usually sets you back 2 euro minimum for a small cone or cup and this was pay 4 euro and get 5 different tasting tubs. we could walk around all these tents and have the people recommend their specialties. I think we tasted close to 20 and it really was an awesome day! quite a suprising event to come across but a welcome one.

Our hostel was quite large (which makes it favourable to large tour groups, school groups etc) this made it fairly hectic but on the last night there were the junior academies, probably under 15 or 14 of AC milan, Roma and Juventus staying there. It was such a refreshing sight to see all these young guys (who'll I'll probably marvel at in ten years time when they're on the world stage) mingling together all in their respective teams tracksuit or polo, shooting pool, playing games and chatting. It was refreshing because you can imagine they're going to be expected, by fans, to hate each other once their playing first team football, but at this age it is completely different for them. I never cease being amazed at the power of football to bring people together and similarly keep people apart!

Anyway will update you again in a couple of days, thanks for reading, we really are having a great time, as any big european trip its full of up moments and bad moments but we're extremely privileged to be in this position, especially together!

Till next time - be good to yourselves, and each other.
