Hi Everyone,

I am up and around today even though the weather here is still a little rainy and the polluted air makes me cough. I wanted to update with some photos since I can´t do this from the hotel computer.

Everyone here is paying attention to the flooding that is happening in Chinandega which is north of here. People are being evacuated via helicopter and we are watching this on the news in the hotel. Also, in Guatamala the Vulcan Picaya (?) erupted and people have been killed while others are being evacuated. Many people are suffering from the ash in the air.

The news from home only seems to discuss the mismanagement of the oil spill in the Gulf. No other news has been given about what else is happening. So, I feel pretty clueless. I will look for the Nico Times today to read some stuff in English.

Dance Practice
I was sitting here enjoying the kids having dance practice and here is where I ran into my friend Koro from Ometepe.

The kids must be getting ready for the Mother´s Day Celebration this weekend.

East Side of Masaya
East of the city is a malcon, where people can walk and enjoy the water and the vista of the Masaya Volcano and its surrounding lagoon.

More Lagoon
The Lagoon seems to go on and on. It is a cresent shape from the lava flow in the middle.

The Artisan Shop
Here is where you can buy any Nicaraguan handicraft. It is really nice and clean in contrast to the new market which is a public health threat.

Pinata Store
Here you can buy any type of pinata to stuff for any type of celebration. Wouldn´t you love to hit the stuffing out of cute Winnie the Pooh?

Estadio Roberto Clemente
Here is the stadium named after the Pittsburgh Pirate who died in a plane crash while delivering aid to victims of the 1974 earthquake. USAid that was delivered to the dictator (Somoza) was actually sold to the people, believe it or not.

Hi Dawn, Thanks for all the great photos. I'm glad you are better. What a cute hotel, but 20$ a night is more than I can afford !!! Has Rich made it there yet? Hope you both have a good time.
