Santorini is simply stunning...
Location: Kos, Rhodes, Crete, Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, Kalambaka, Meteora, Corfu
Length of Stay:15 Days
Cost per Day: $60

The Greeks in Greece are definitely an interesting lot... very different from the ones I have met back home in Australia... and we have alot back home... In fact, apparently the Greeks in Melbourne are the largest Greek community in the world outside of Athens...
So what are they like here...
Well... the best word to use is the word big...
They are very big in stature...with big loud, booming voices... big, big personalites... and they dont seem to smile all that much...
Sometimes when you see and hear the locals interact with each other, you think that they are having an argument... because they yell so loudly... but no... just their way of communicating...
Definitely not alot of love, warmth and mutual respect between the people...
And if you are standing in their way... get out of the way or you will be shoved out of the way...
I can imagine that the Greek armies would have been fearsome and intimidating warriors in the days of ancient Sparta...

If you are a non-smoker... be prepared... because this is a nation of heavy duty smokers...
And no place is off-limits...
Somebody call Prada quickly... I was horrified to walk into designer boutiques and find the staff sitting behind the counter smoking away... Dont they know that smoke clings to fabric... I wouldnt dream of spending $500 on a dress if it had the scent of smoke...

The Islands have been a wonderful, wonderful experience...
Upon looking at all the photos I have taken... I kind of go... Wow... was I really there... How very fortunate I am to have had this experience...
Each island is completely different from the next... in its landscape... its buildings... its people...
Favourites were definitely Santorini and Mykonos...
I cant imagine that anyone could be satisfied with just one visit to the Greek Isles... I will definately be back...

The countryside and landscape is quite striking most places I went...
And I have never ever seen such a vast array of beautiful flowers growing wildly everywhere...
And the roses here are magnificent... the colours and the fragrance... literally my heart skipped a beat at their amazing beauty...

I have had several more potential job offers in Greece... How lucky... definitely nice to have some options available... The 1st one is to return to Greece and spend the European winter on Mykonos helping to run a gorgeous little boutique hotel owned by a Aussie Greek... the 2nd is to help out running a farm/guesthouse in the French countryside with a Belgium woman for July and August...
Hmm... We shall see where I am at as the months progress...

So... I have decided to modify my travel tactics now...
As I am not a huge fan of cold weather and I am only travelling with summer clothing... this means that I only have a small window of opportunity to travel with decent warm weather throughout Europe before the cold comes again...
Therefore I am going to have to speed things up...so no more month long visits... and instead I will cut it down to several weeks or so per country...
Its not the way I would like to do it... but I guess it will at least give me an introduction to each country and if I fall in love with a place, then at least I can return if I want to explore further...

Italia is up next... till next time... x

Hello
I thought those must be professional photos, at first. I was wondering why you were suddenly not using your own photos. How beautiful! I thought that Prada story was so funny! I couldn't buy clothes in a shop where there was smoking either, and I am a smoker. And all those great job offers! So your're going to chase summer around the globe. What a fantastic plan. Love your posts. Can't wait for the next one. Nothing much happening in Briz. I am very busy at uni with exams coming up soon. Having a cool autumn for a change. I am having an eighties flashback right now, because their playing 80s music on RAGE. Take care. xxxt
