Jack was great and particularly loved kicking the back of the seat in front. The lady in that seat susequently had a migrane and was sick twice on the decent into Newark airport - not sure if he had anything to do with that!
Well here we go then! - the first entry of our 5 week trip around the US. I guess everybody will be wondering how the flight over went with Jack so let's get straight to it; it was ok - testing at times shall we say! He did really well all things considering - in about 16hrs of travel he got about 2hrs sleep but in between smilling, playing, crying, kicking the seat in front of him and wandering up and down the airplane aisles we made it safe and sound.

After being delayed in Newark for a three hours we finally arrived in Savannah at about 9:30pm where Jeff and Bettina were waiting. After a leaky nappy incident where Lucille ended up covered in wee, we mounted up and made our way back to their place in Brooklet which is about 45 minutes West of Savannah.

After a nights sleep with an early start (my bodyclock got me up at 5), we woke to a beautiful morning of blue skies and the sun shining bright. With about 80 acres in all, we took a walk round Jeff and Bettinas' property with Jack to see all the animals.

A fantastic house surrounded by cedar trees and pastures for all the goats, chickens and of course the pig.

Later that morning we headed off to Savannah for a drive through tour and lunch on River Street in the historic district. Top tip of the day, avoid cinnamon Salt Water Taffy! Savannah reminded us of Boston in a way, very historic with some beautiful pre Civil War houses with columns, twin staircases and wrap around porches.

The day finished with a beautiful evening on the porch reaquainting ourselves with our good friends Buddy Weiser and Jimmy Beam!

This is our first attempt so we're still trying to get to grips with things! Hopefully we'll get the map loaded up soon. If you want to view the pictures full size, click on the link underneath the first one and scroll through.

A bustling street which used to house a number of cotton exchange buildings but now has lots of trendy shops, and of course the usual tourist tat as well.

The cobbles came over from England originally as they were used as ship ballast for the Atlantic crossing. They would then be dumped and replaced with cargo for the return trip.

Savannah
Love, love, love Savannah! It is one of my favourite cities in America. So beautiful with all the spanish moss hanging from the trees and the great southern feel to the place. Delays at Newark - what a suprise (P was always delayed getting home as that was our 'local' airport!
