So yesterday we decided to go to the zoo and after we had been we made a pact to never visit another on our travels. The animals were in a sad state in fact there are not that many photos of them to save you all. The elephant was one of the most distressing things I think I have ever seen. In fact I couldn't even stay in the elephant house to look at it. The only good thing must of been the dancing snake lady 😊. I will have to find somewhere where I can post video so that you can all see her girating to the tinny music while draping docile snakes around her body very funny. If we learned one thing yesyerday it's that to pay to get in somewhere doesn't necessarily mean you've "paid to get in". After an admission charge of 16 yuan you then had to pay an extra 5 yuan to get into the other atractions. So in total if you visit all the attractions it would cost 41 yuan.

The best thing to come out of our trip was that we made another new friend. We took the bus from the bottom of our road and then got lost. So Daniela asked a young lad on the bus where the zoo was. He then got off the bus with us took us to the zoo and even paid for us to get in. A top man. His English name was Nick and he's studying world economics at a university in the city. He spoke very good English although he got a little bit lost on some of the animals names.

We've found people's hospitality and willingness to help incredible. Even those who cannot speak English are more than willing to give us advice or help. It's very heartwarming.

This morning we've been to our local market to buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Again everyone is so helpful, although it is a little frustrating trying to ask for some fruits and veggies. We even found a shop selling fresh noodles we bought 250g for 1yuan 10 pence. The smells from the street vendors stall is amazing and I can't wait to try some.

This afternoon we took a walk to the new part of Zhengzhou with it's new buildings and enormous roads. So many people there this afternoon. The favourite pastime of the Chinese is kite flying. The amount of kites that were flying in the sky was amazing and some of them were really high. We bought a kite but we weren't very good at getting it to fly, we attracted quite an audience as well, so we're going to go to the park next weekend and practice. In the centre of New Zhengzhou is a lake, conference centre, art galleries, exhibition and concert halls. It's all so clean. There is not a bit of litter anywhere. in the evenings they have an illumination and water show. Once it warms up a little we'll go and have a look.

That's about it for this week so take care all of you and we'll post more next week

I'm sorry for the order of the photos but the upload program of this blog doesn't put them in the correct order and I can't be arsed to arrange over 100 photos.. til next time
