We arrived in Mesa, AZ yesterday afternoon are set up in Val Vista Village. Here is a Google map of our location:

After a look around and such, we climbed in The Beast and headed to Chandler, AZ to visit friends Dave and Mare, with whom we had met up with earlier in the month in Tubac, AZ.

Bellying up to the task, Dave had prepared quite a spread for us. In honor of our get together in their lovely home, Nan made up some of her tasty guacamole dip and I picked up some lovely sunflowers to mark the occasion.

It took us no time to break out the batch of frozen margaritas Dave had cold cooked overnight in his freezer, using as a guide my now famous video production on UTube that is getting rave reviews. See it and make for yourself at:

Dave served up some mighty fine, fork tender brisket with a little char for the main, and tantalizing sides of slaw and baked beans.

“I’ll have another of those delicious ‘ritas, Dave.”

“My pleasure Paddy!”

And he poured one for himself too.

We all jawed about this and that. And you know how Shaddy can work the crowd to try to get some table food! He would moan and pose in an attempt to get some table scraps. I’ve seen him roll over on his back in a dead-dog pose to try to get a life saving scrap from the table. He is so sly.

Today is the high holy day; St Paddy’s Day. We are going take a closer look at the activities here at Val Vista Village to evaluate it for a future visit. They have some very nice looking shuffleboard and bocce ball courts, but I don’t know how well the activities are scheduled and structured. It’s one thing to have the facilities, but another to make them user friendly with regular weekly structured play.

During our stay here, I’m getting a half price discount using my Passport America membership. Now, that’s a great deal.

Tomorry, we head west on I-10 to Indio CA, where we will spend three nights at Shadow Hills RV Resort for another evaluation.

Stay tuned,

Paddy

Astro Turf
I saw what looks like astro turf on the bocce ball courts. Nice, clean look and I sure you get a consistent roll but don't think I will go with that. There are a bunch of surfaces to choose from. Haven't priced any but the crushed stone looks good if the price is right. Later
