Taking my parents to el Mirador de San Nicolas... an overlook in the Albícin
The next stop on the agenda for my parent’s trip was Granada. I was really excited to show them around Granada. I’ve really started to feel at home here, so it meant a lot to me to be able to show them around. We also lucked out and there was an open apartment in the building right next to mine, so they were my neighbors during there few days in Granada. It was also very cold in Granada, but the sun was out! Spain has a very different feel when the sun’s out. It’s so beautiful. I took them to all of my favorite places in Granada, and introduced them to my host family. My parents were invited over to dinner at my host family’s apartment. This was so nice. I was really glad that both of my families were able to meet. There was a bit of a language barrier, but family is family in any language.
The next day I took them to the Albicín and Sacramonte. Like I’ve said before these are my two favorite places in Granada. The sun was shining, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky! They had to do a lot of walking, but they were troopers! I also took them to see Flamenco one night, and they met my friend, and travel buddy Deanna. Then I took them to the Alhambra, which is an Arab palace near the Albícin. It was beautiful. This was my first time being in the Alhambra as well. Then we walked around the gardens of the Alhambra. It was beautiful. My parents were able to see two palaces while they were here, and they were both very different from each other, so they got quite a feel of the history. The week went by so fast, and I was sad to see them go, but like I said earlier I took a great deal of pride being able to show them around my new home. I wish I could have shown them more, but I still had to go to classes all week, so they wore me out! But it was a great trip.
Thank you to those of you who have been following along all this time. I am about half way through my stay here, and I don’t know where the time is going. Stick with me! Here’s a look at things to

come: a day trip to Ronda, and Córdoba, a weekend in Barcelona, and maybe a trip to the Canary Islands. Also a visit from my beautiful sister and my brother-in-law!

Thank you
We had the most awesome time in Spain. Thank you for sharing your home away from home. We had a great time. Your pictures DO justice to the beautiful country. What a pleasure to meet your family. We were honored to be invited into their home. I think the red wine we drank offset the impact of all the ham we ate....FYI I just saw convertable drive by,3/18, you have got to love Minnesotans! We are a hardy lot. Your father came home and filled up the hot tub. He is now warm again!!! We love you and will forever remember our trip to Spain with the best tour guide ever!
