This past week has been a busy one. Here are some of our activities:

George usually tries to take Mondays off to spend time with the family. Lately, he's been taking Luke and Lindsey out on Monday afternoons to practice driving.

George taught class at ACSOP all day Tuesday, and then Tuesday evening we were very happy to make a trip to the airport to pick up Julia, who returned home safe and sound. Well..we're not sure how sound..she's missing Lee very badly and has wedding bells on her mind. 😊 She and Lee were very productive during her time in Oklahoma, and got many wedding details planned.

Wednesday George worked from home, due to the fact that his office is so terribly hot in the afternoons. His hands sweat on his computer keyboard, and it makes it very difficult to work. Our home is much cooler and more comfortable. Wednesday afternoon we went to Kisongo for evening Bible study, and then afterward, we went out for supper with Sean and Ania Hochdorf, along with their daughter Maddie, to celebrate Anita's birthday.

Thursday George braved his office at the school and worked there all day. Jacob spent the morning with Ahimidiwe, teaching a Bible class to a non-Christian husband and wife in Kisongo.

Friday evening we went to ACSOP to meet with the second year students for a Bible class. George is currently teaching them on the Home and Family, and one day, due to breakfast being served late, their time in class was cut a bit short. George was not able to cover some of his material, and so he offered to come some evening, if they were interested, and teach the section that he missed. He told them it was completely voluntary; he would not test them over that material. So, we all went with him to join in the class. All the students chose to attend. I had baked an apple cake earlier in the day, and we brought that to share with them after class.

Today we visited the congregation in Merarani. This was the first time for us to visit this congregation. Ahimidiwe and his wife accompanied us, and Ahimidiwe translated for George. We met some good folks there, and recognized a couple different people who had previously attended the Bible school in Moshi, where George taught a few of the classes when we lived there. There was a young man there who is obviously a very active member. There was also an elderly bibi (grandmother) present, and we learned that she is the grandmother of the young man. His grandparents, as well as his parents, are members of the church in Merarani. This is quite unusual for here, for three generations to be members of the church, and it was wonderful to see.

The last 30 minutes of the trip to Merarani was on very rough washboard road, and by the time we drove both ways, we all felt like rag dolls that had been shaken to pieces. When we got back to the house we ate a late lunch, straightened the house, and then enjoyed a little rest, before some of the other missionaries came over to join us for our evening worship, in English. Jacob gave the lesson for the evening.

Please keep Jimmy Gee in your prayers. He will be returning to Tanzania Saturday evening. His recent surgery went very well, and his back pain has been relieved. Also, please keep Lydia Purdom in your prayers. She will be arriving Friday evening. She'll be with us for a month.

We hope you all have a blessed week.

In Christ,
George and Joy

Always good
It is always good to read how things are going with you all. It is good to be able to tell the congregation here that we heard from you and what you are up to. This 1-week recap is great. As I type this, I think about you having finished evening worship with your good friends and coworkers. I always pray that your needs are met, including financial but especially in fellowship that helps renew your own spirits. Well, time to make sure I have the lesson in mind for our evening session. May God continue to bless you all.
