Unfortunately, the weather was not great for our trip to Versailles. Cloudy, cold, and rainy. We met at a metro stop and took the RER out to Versailles. I enjoyed the Palace a lot, I love seeing the fancy architecture and decorations and furniture. I think it would be overwhelming to live there, though. I wish I could have spent more time and read all the information about the royalty and the rooms, but I wanted to see all the rooms and still have time to check out the gardens, although they are not as impressive during the winter. Everything was very pretty, and I enjoyed the tranquility and vastness of the gardens. Here are the pictures!

After Versailles, I came home to let Mme Consigny know I would not be home for dinner, but she was not here, so I left a note. Then I headed to Catherine's. I met her at the metro stop I shared yesterday. She gave me an excellent tour of the 1er arrondissement and part of the 8ème. I got to see some cool public art, a few churches, embassies, and the President's house! We walked for almost 2 hours! We took the metro back and Catherine gave me several guide books and newspapers and things to know all about what is going on in France, très gentille! We had an apèritif of some crunchy cheese things and champagne, while we got to know one another. Dinner was sausage and salad and cheese, followed by delicious chocolate cake with coffee, and chocolate eclair! C'était délicieux!

She explained to me about French tv, and gave me several show suggestions which I will check out when I have time. TV here is different in that shows start at random times, usually on the 5 minutes, so things start at 15 after or 40 after or 55 after, depending on the channel. If you like more than one channel that could be hard to plan!

I enjoyed meeting Catherine very much! I think we will have a lot of fun tomorrow. Depending on the weather, maybe something outside, or a museum. I hope my feet will recover with sleep. With the huge palace and grounds of Versailles, as well as my walk with Catherine, I think I may have walked more today than any other day in my life! My feet are quite sore. Bonne nuit, tout le monde!

silly french
I think that the French are very silly people with their tv! Do they have fewer commercials than us? That might make up for it... Also, now I really really want chocolate eclair - sounds like you get to eat so much yummy food!
