Hello,

Well I would have to say the highlight of our visit together was the great city tour of Dubai. It was great to be driven around to see things as Dubai's roads are somewhat confusing. The signs may indicate the way at the beginning but they don't always follow through all the way to the end. I personally loved seeing the old outdoor souk near the dhow ferry pick up. It was full of character and interesting items as well as people. I actually saw this camel quilt that I want to buy...I got him down to half price but let's face it I'm still paying too much.
Included in the tour was a dhow cruise. We saw many interesting buildings along the way including one of Dubai's first iconic buildings built by Carlos Ott that reflects the water (National Bank of Dubai) as well as our boat that was cruising by. I tried to get an even closer picture but by the time Mary and I attempted to change the lenses...we had passed it. Another amazing fact is that those large traditional dhow boats (made of wood) are actually still used to transport goods in the Gulf (Iran,

Here we are off to do a city tour of Dubai...you get taken everywhere and it is well worth the money.
Pakistan, Sudan) like electronics, food, clothes...you name it. It looks like something the vikings would have used to travel in. They certainly don't seem to have much space in their holds that would make it worth their while. It was a long day on the bus but we toured the palm island last...it is amazing to see the Atlantis hotel at night all lit up.

Bye for now,

Sherry

There is a building in Abu Dhabi like this as well. Etisalat practically has a monopoly on cell phones and the internet.
