OK, so let's clear this up - I know several people were all jealous I was going to New Zealand, don't be. You think UK summers are bad? I haven't worn shorts since December.

Even as I type the heavens are watering the plants.

No matter, this is just a quickie coz I had some pics to put up. Went out today to visit Weta Cave which is like a museum for all the people who wanna go see Weta Workshop and see all the cool stuff they did for Lord of the Rings and Narnia and Kong and the billions of other things they've been involved with. Well it's a good job it was free coz I've spent more time in Forbidden Planet in London looking at their models than I did here. Then to really twist the knife they show a 20minute dvd of where they actually do all the work and are completely surrounded by all the really cool props we all came to this shed to see! Bloody Kiwis....

Anyway I then went to Te Papa, which is the big museum here in Wellington and by big I mean HUGE. It's easily on a par with the Natural History Museum and I really enjoyed it and it was free. Well it "was" free until yours truly dipped in his pocket to donate some change to "keep it free", then bought a $3 map of the place, then forked out $18 to go on the 2 simulators (only 1 of which was any good) and then another $15 to check out the Pompeii exhibit. That wasn't too bad, but maybe only worth half the price. I quite liked the way the had a 3D animation using a fixed position in Pompeii on the day it happened and they would jump from 8am to 1pm to 4pm and so on showing it from some smoke from Vesuvius with rattling roof tiles then on to hailing rocks to the whole place covered in ash.

Not sure what else to say but I'm sure you'll be surprised to see in my photo that Wellington is a city at the bottom of a mountain coz none of the other places have been like that eh? Honestly I've got calves like the Hulk from walking around this bloody country...

Oh must mention how when I was exploring I saw this big spider camera sculpture thing (see photo) and as the bus moved out of my way I recognised where I was - it's a sculpture opposite the very cinema used for the world premieres of each LOTR film. I thought about going in to watch something just for the sake of it, but I don't really fancy anything that's on coz I've seen the good ones...

So tomorrow is off to sit in a field for a while and hope to speak to all after that. I had hoped to do one of my maps so you could see where it all is but I can't find Levin coz the map you use on this site is pretty rubbish. I do have a plan of what I want to do next, but I'm not sure how I'm going to get there so I won't say anything as I strongly suspect I'll have to just go with the flow. Also slightly concerned I may have to sleep on a street for one night, but at least I got a sleeping bag and a travel pillow 😊
