Here you can see that the arroyos and area below are quite green
We obviously got here and this is my first entry since we arrived. The park looks terrific and Cesar, the owner, has made some nice little changes. The outside wall is now painted a bright yellow with a blue trim....almost Michigan colors! He put some nice planters around our bodega so I will put some plants in and pray the steer don't come in. But things are very green so they should have enough to eat outside the park. There has been more rain here this year so that is why things are still green. I have never seen it so green before.

Of course my "new Meijer" bag was in an "explosive" condition when we went to get the luggage. Naturally , the service people said it happened in the U.S. Clearly there were black marks all over the thing and the zipper was almost completely disemboweled from the bag! Their claim is that it was "bad workmanship". At that point, it would be insane to argue, so after they "assured" me that nothing escaped from the bag---how would they know?---we collected our bags and went to wait for our ride. Tradition dictates that upon arrival, one must get
Gabriela and CesarGabriela and CesarGabriela and Cesar

Gabriela is a doll who will be on maternity leave for some time now as she has the new baby, Jimena. Cesar is 5 now.
baggage, head to the waiting area, get a beer and then catch our ride to Los Barriles. Our drivers were there, we packed up, headed out and stopped for lunch and another beer, went to the grocery store in San Jose and headed home. Everything looked fantastic. The workers here had gotten our furniture out, cleaned and dusted, made up the beds (sheets had been pressed!!!) so all we had to do is unpack a bit and then go to bed! That was a real treat for me having the place all ready to go! I still had to unpack and put things in their places and that is still not done, but that is ok....I have lots of time.

As to the weather, it has been warm but windy, which is normal. I am not going to complain in any shape, manner or form!

Thursday we had a little gathering for arrival of Gabriela's and Arturo's new baby girl. Gabriela cleans here and her dad is the caretaker of the park. So Gabriela, the baby and her son, Cesar, her mother Rafaela, and Gabriela's brother, Valentin, all came over. The baby, Jimena Guadalupe, is absolutely perfect and beautiful. She was 7 days old the day we met. Everyone had gifts for the baby and little Cesar who is 5 now. I had gotten him a little outfit and the shirt has this spaceship that glows in the dark. He was thrilled.

Friday we had a birthday celebration for 2 of the guys in the park. So a group of us from here gathered for fajitas, cake and ice cream. It was nice to see all of our old friends from last year. A new couple just bought the condo in front of our place. They are from MICHIGAN--Grand Rapids! Can you believe it??? There are NO people down here from MI except us. They seem very nice. I will miss the folks that sold it but it will be nice to have new people here too.

I guess that is about it from here. Here are some pics for you. So far, so good!

Taking down the trusses........Taking down the trusses........
Taking down the trusses........

This fiasco captured the attention of the residents in the park as the workers attempted to disassemble the steel trusses which were a big bone of contempt last year. As a result of taking them down, one of the trusses "slipped" and crashed into the the water tank on the roof of the place next door. Oops. That has to be replaced now.

Never a dull moment??
I'm glad you're settled in and I can look forward to "living my life through you" and hearing about what this year will bring. It sounds like old home week for you, and even some new Michigan neighbors.
