Sunset on Cottesloe Beach
The sunsets everynight were lovely. I was amazed! Well, so far Perth/Western Australia has been brilliant! We have been here for 4 weeks now and have really enjoyed ourselves. We love Australia!
As explained in the other blog we have been staying with Rachael and Josh for the past 3 weeks so we have been catching the train around to different places nearby. We were going to rent a car but it works out quite expensive and the train is so cheap! We've been to the popular beaches - Scarborough Beach and Cottesloe Beach and also paid a visit to Hillary's Harbour and Fremantle for the day. Scarborough Beach and Cottesloe Beach are beautiful. I didnt expect the water to be so clear and blue or the sand to be so white. The beaches definitely come close to Thailand beaches - only the water is colder!
We had an unexpected text from our mate Tim (the guy we met in Thailand who we went to the New Years party with - he's working as a sparky over there) he was here in Perth for a week and was actually staying down at Cottesloe beach. We arranged to meet up with him in a pub down there, it

Me watching the sun go down - I could watch it everynight. was good to see him again. We had a good night - particulary because Phil won the pool competition! A crate of beer - not bad aye!
We decided to book the weekend down there in a backpackers because it was St Patricks day on the Friday and that always means it will be a good night out! We met up with Tim and a few of his mates (you can see us all in the photos) and headed down to Fremantle for the night. It was a good laugh! The next day Tim picked us up and we went for a drive. He took us to somemore sights which is always good. In the evening he had planned to meet somemore of his friends in Northbridge, he twisted our arms and we went with him. As usual it was a good night! It was really good meeting up with Tim again, meeting new people and doing something different. He's a real nice guy. Hopefully we'll stay in touch and may meet up with him again sometime in the future....
The backpackes was nice, 2 mins walk from the beach and next door to the main pub (which is
always handy!) We had our first experience of sleeping in a dorm which to be honest I was a bit anxious about - you never know who you will be sharing a dorm with. The dorm has 8 beds so there was another 6 people in there. When we first got to the room I could just tell this was a room full of lads! The beds werent made, there we're boxers and Y-fronts on the floor, food everywhere, empty bottles of beer - you could just tell this was a blokes room, which was fine, but because at first we never met any of them I had lots of visions in my head of what they looked like (and they werent good visions!) and more importantly what their personal hygiene was like - particulary as I had to share a bathroom with them! It would have given me the creeps to have have to stay in a room with 6 over men not knowing what they looked like! and to top it all me and Phil were on the top of two different bunkbeds which had no ladders so we had to climb to get on the top bunk!
Cottesloe Beach
This is after the sun as gone down - the sky is still bright orange - beautiful I could see myself falling everwhere - especially after a few drinks! The poor bloke in the bed under me! But, as it turned out we met a few of the guys and they were fine. I couldnt sleep properly though and was looking forward to getting into our own room. Oh and I successfully managed to climb on the top bunk without causing myself or anyone else any damage!
The sunsets at Cottesloe are amazing. Id never seen the sunset like it before. The colours are beautiful - the sky and the sea turns bright red, orange and yellow (you can see this a bit in the photos but it is so much better watching it live!) The best thing is that you can sit in the pub and watch the sun go down from your seat coz the pub has huge open windows looking out over the sea. Its lovely.
We've had a few experiences with the Aboriganies! God they're a weird bunch! They just sit around getting drunk all day! and the ones we have seen so far havent been that nice either. We got on the train the other day and 3 got on.
Cottesloe Beach
This beach was lovely and we went on a perfect day - as you can see They were shouting their heads of to one another saying some weird stuff. I could smell some strong paint fumes, looked around and they were all sniffing solvents out of plastic bottles! I couldnt believe they were so blatant about it. A few people said something and gave a few evil looks but they didnt care. There were some old people right next to them that could hardly breathe - how selfish. After inhailing quite a bit one of them was shouting her head off - saying how much she loved scaring everyone and how she was going to harm people! WHAT A WEIRDO! Luckily security got on the train and escorted them off. I couldnt believe what had happened! Ive spoken to a few Aussies about it since and they just say thats what the abos are like - they are in a world of their own. It's so strange to think the Aussies have a different community within their community if you get what I mean? We are certainly going to watch out for them now - dodgy people!
We had our first day of rain yesterday, but its sunny again today. A few days ago it
was 37 degrees! We couldnt even lay on the beach it was too hot! Its a bit cooler today though, I think its in the low 20s and we're feeling the cold already. Good news is the weather is getting hot again towards the weekend - I wonder if this good weather will ever end (not that I want it to!) it is mid Autumn afterall!
Anyway, basically, the last 4 weeks we have been chilling out, visiting a few places and having lots of fun!We have been trying to save our money because we have booked some tours at the end of March for 3 weeks. We are going on a 'Easy Rider' Tour round the South of Western Australia and then another one around the North of Western Australia. We are really looking forward to it. Its going to be a great opportunity to meet lots of new people and see loads of different sights. The whole trip looks amazing. We'll be going to so many different places and seeing lots of new things. We cant wait! Im sure we'll have lots of amazing pictures and stories to tell so I will write again when our
first tour is finished and fill you in.
Well thats it for now, hope you are enjoying the blogs! Keep your comments rolling in, we love receiving them. C ya xxxx
