The kids went for a swim after breakfast, I think they needed to after cereals and cooked breakfast. We relaxed for a while making the most of the environment we are in. At midday we arranged transport into the city. The only downside of where we are staying is the cost of getting to and from the city (and the fact no-one knows where it is).
We were dropped at one of the temples in the old city, and went through it and then progressed around the city. The temples are very old, a number around 600 years, and all different, one was teak, another had a huge Stupa. There was Monk Chat at one temple, where you could sit and have a chat with the Monks. This improves their English, and is a nice insight into their lives. The monk we chatted with was very open, a 23 year old that had been a monk since he was 14. He came from Luang Prabang and spends 3 months a year there, but cannot stay with his parents. This was a nice touch.
We headed off to the Night markets, found a food court for dinner and wandered the
Wat Phra Singh
We're still not sure if he was real! market. The boys were sick of seeing clothes, so fortunately it got more interesting quickly. This is a good market, so much stuff and good variety. We got a sangthaew back to take us back, as usual they have no idea where to go and get lost. Fortunately he was a nice guy, and just figured next time he would know where to go.
