After Denmark we head West again into the Valley Of The Giants, where some of the oldest and most magnificant Eucliptus trees can be found. Of paticular interest are the Tingle Trees, which allong with all Gums shead their highly flamable leaves to encourage forest fires that wipeout all compeeting plants.

The Tinge Trees have a shallow root system thought they get up to 100m tall, therefore they buttress at the bottom. Insects atack the core of the tree and fire gets into the dry center and the trees become hollow suported only on the buttresses which can be quite spetacular. Check the images of Jimmy showing the variety of antics possible inside a tree trunk.

In Tree Country we do some hardcore off roading to check out a treetop walk, 40m up in the canopy on wobley allimum bridges. This not beeing a proper tree experiance we head to a famous Fire Spotting Tree, a 75m Tingle Tree with climbing pitons allowing you to reach a platform on the top. Jimmy made it about half way up before realising quite what he was dooing then very carefully decending. I focused my mind on the old 'Dune' mantra 'Fear is the mind killer, i have no fear' and climbed to the top. The last 15m was realy tough as the thin iron pitons became iregular and steep, the drop was dizzyingly far and hard. But once on the platform the canopy of the forest below perevents you seeing the bottom! I must admint the the climb down took a lot longet than the one up!

We hit the West coast at Agusta which is very quaint and cornish, we walk out to the head of the cape where the Southern and Indian Oceans meat, i like to think there was some significant change, but realy the only line evident was that of the tourists queing to have their photo taken next to a rather dull sign,

We turn Right at last and start heading up north to warmer climbs and fresh trade winds. Our first stop is the infmous Surfer basshing Condo, described in our Surfers guide to Ozz as 'A racy barreling left hander with a classic right, with a fast takeoff and an even faster end section this is a wave to remember especialy over 3m'. We camp in a beautifull National Park near Condo, our tents shaded by pepermint trees in compleet seclusion.

Their being no wind at Condo we head a bit fater north anticipateing our first kitesurf in the Indian and it is the famous surfing beaches of Margret River that supply our weather requirements.

Our first tirp to the beach had us comeacross the R n D guys form North (one of the biggest kitesurf manufactures). The Spanish Pro kiter who designed Jimmys board was on hand to sign his Twin Tip, it reads 'To Jimmy: Make It Look Good, Jamie 😊'. We surfed with Jamie and Sky in a good 8ft swell and the surf guides 'Viscious left handers, that work realy well at 3m' these guys useing unstrapped surfboards to kit with realy put the two of us to shame. But we did our best to make it look good, im learning to catch waves and pulling some nice confident jumps and railes.

Two days later in at least 15ft swell Jimmy made his first doubble back roll great in very Narley conditions, Jamie described it as 'Wind is gusty, but waves she is big' and oh yes she was. Crusing through the ocean to see

Anybody with a hint of vertigo should not go near this place!
the sets lining up 400m out was insane, angleing my board to carve the relif of the troughts and peaks like some gian moguel feild...

Were going to be in Margret River backpackers for a few more days, its a realy nice plave and a good change form camping, next stop Bussleton and on towards Perth!

Peace N Love.

T out.
