Aloha!

We arrived in Honolulu from Vegas 3 days ago and have just found a good internet cafe which will hopefully allow us to upload some photos. We're staying at a quirky hotel, a bit 60's, about a 5-minute walk from the main strip which is very built up. We like our hotel because it's quiet, it's literally on the beach from where we can sit and watch fabulous sunsets and it serves great food. What more could you ask.

We hired a car yesterday and toured the island which is amazing. Harry saw the surfing paradise of Waimea Bay (Beach Boys fans will understand) and the Banzai Pipeline at Banzai Beach/Sunset Beach. The photos don't really do it justice. The waves were enormous and the noise deafening - the only way to get some idea of scale is to look at the size of the people on the beach compared to the waves which are even further away.

We also went to the Dole Plantation which produces about 90% of the world's pineapples - now we know how pineapples grow and how delicious they are when freshly picked.

Today (12th Nov) we went to Pearl Harbour and saw the USS Bowfin and the aviation museum. Unfortunately the USS Missourri wasn't open for visitors as it is undergoing a facelift.

Tomorrow we're off to Fiji and will cross the international dateline, so at the moment we're about 10/11 hours behind England. When we arrive in Fiji we'll have missed 14th November altogether, it will be the 15th November and we'll be 10/11 hours ahead of you. If you're reading this on the 14th we don't exist until tomorrow. Work that one out!!

By the way, we haven't mentioned yet that we took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon whilst in Vegas. Again, it's difficult to get an idea of scale, but take it from us, it's BIG. Angela & Harry xx
