Meet 'fat foot'Meet 'fat foot'Meet 'fat foot'

Georgetown, QLD
2nd October - 5th October 2009

All was going so well... it was only day 4, how could this be my luck. Yes, I got an infected left foot from a mozzie bite I got weeks ago in Mission Beach. I limped into Georgetown Hospital where I was given my antibolics, a stack of bandages, a lecture on mozzie bites (yes I scratched it, yes I thought swimming in the ocean would heal it), and was told to rest and give the swelling time to go down.

Talk about shit luck! So Georgetown is a nice little place, and with 2 days to enjoy the stunning surrounds from the comfort of my armchair, I can't wait! The campground is lovely where I'm staying and there are so many birds, I become a bit of a bird watcher (I am more like my Dad each day)! After 2 days the swelling hasn't gone down but the pain has and I can change gear so with that, I kiss Georgetown goodbye and continue onto the Gulf Country & Karumba.

Made it to Karumba on sunset, great timing. The Point of Karumba has a big QLD pub right on the water

and the NRL grandfinal was on so everyone in QLD was there! The shore line is covered in shells that have cemented together to form rocks. It's really beautiful and I enjoy my Blondie as I watch the sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Foot is slowly going down thank god. It looks so fat and sore. I have become obsessed with insect repellent and stocked up with sprays, creams, coils, candles... you name it, I have it. No bug is getting one tiny furry foot on me!

Travel south now, down to Burke and Wills Roadhouse and right into true blue cattle country and my next stop: Lawn Hill NP.

Loving the countryside...
