hey all,
The last weekend leaves nothing really to report except that it was hot and getting hotter. I checked once and it was over 85 in my room with lights off fan on full blast and windows open for breeze!
This will be a small not on beating the heat which has become my full time pursuit.
here are my methods
1) swimming: good overall ,but the beach is a ways away. We went to a pool last week, but then got thrown out because apparently its not officially open. True the water was green, but it was cold and im sure they could make a ton of money even with the green water because the obroni are desperate!
2) not moving: this would be good as well except that i have classes and its boring to sit completely still.
3) shade hopping: i use this to get to class and it involves moving from point of shade to point of shade as quickly as possible while walking slowing when you sare in the shade itself.
4) breeze snatching: this is used in my room. we have short panel windows meaning there are 8 panels per window and the can be rotated fully shut or fully open. we have windows on both ends of our room so all you need to do is open the correct ones to create the air stream you desire.
5) fan laying: this is good if you are in the room, but hte fan is noisy, and threatens to attack if put on low levels. Its pretty much all or nothing.
6) scarf wearing: This is one i always use, and hte only side affect is that people stare at me because its improbable to see a white muslim for them. Once i tell them that i wear the scarf for hte heat they just laugh and the crazy obroni who must be a weird kind of muslim.
7) ice cream eating: Ice cream comes in sealed plastic bags like water and is a great way to cool off especially if you put it on you head until it starts to melt.

I use all of these with varying degrees of success, if you have any more ideas then do tell!

The first mix of the track i sang is out, and we are going in for some edits this week. Pretty soon the master track sould be ready which is great. ONce it is, ill either put it up directly, or provide a link for you all 😊

Ways to beat the heat
Wow!! You came up with many more ideas than I would have. One idea would be to fan yourself using a small piece of cardboard. Better yet (but probably not available in Ghana) are those small portable battery-operated fans that you hold in your hand. Why don't you asked the college to put in misters? (Ha! Ha!) Always enjoy reading your reports and looking at the pictures. Hope you're doing well under the circumstances. My shoulder is soooo much better and I'm playing lots of dooubles, sometimes 3 sets (around 2 hours) of tennis a day. This makes me a happy camper. I'm auditing an "Abnormal Psychology" class at Scripps College. Very interesting and fascinating class, to say the least. Great professor and highly intelligent students. I'm having a lot of fun. Also I'm continuing with my German on Saturday mornings, so lots to keep my brain busy and functioning. Jhaline is doing great in 4th grade--she has a wonderful teacher. Of course, I don't see Marina anymore because she's in San Luis Obispo at a small Christian high school. When I've talked to her, she says she's doing well in school. Bye for now!! Much Love.

share
Hei MarMar, I shared the "What Happened at Dodi" blog with the Baldwin Bulletin, and they published it in full, generously removing the typos :) I wonder if I will be stopped all over town with additional questions... I'm sending hard copies to Grampsie to keep him up to date. Yikes, that is some green water you were swimming in, and you are extremely lucky to not get some sort of rash from it. Heard on the radio today that hook worm infection may ward off asthma and/or alergies, so well maybe I should calm down about all of the diseases/parasites you may be getting unknowingly... Always the Momba, Love, Momba
