29-9-09 Before we left we had to take a photo of a 3 wheel bike that pulled in yesterday, The bike had a very special passenger that I could not get a photo of. In the back seat of the bike sat a Jack Russell dog in a harness with goggles on to protect his eyes, unreal. On the back he had a trailer with a fold out bed & everything that opens & shuts. We were on the road early & it did not take long to pack up, getting experts now. It is only 135 km’s to Barn Hill so we arrived there at 9.30am after going over 10km’n of red dirt road & having to stop & open & close several gates. Barn Hill is a working cattle property & the Caravan Park is on a bluff over looking the most beautiful beaches. They stretch for miles & have lots of cool rocky outcrops to photograph. We set up camp & Den washed the bird poop off the awning & I tided the van as a few things had fallen down on the way in on the dirt road. It is 33 deg today so a bit hot
& humid. It is $28 a night , we are finding that with school holidays they are charging extra. The park is very rustic & if you are looking for **** star amenities it might not be the one for you. There are lots of trees & a few rustic bungalows you can rent but if you are looking for peace & quiet this is the spot. Everyone is very friendly. We had lunch & took the girls for a swim & a walk then we sunbaked on the beach for a while, there was no one in sight for at least an hour. We came back & talked to our neighbours & then we decided to trim the girls feet as they need a clip, this done we will clip them tomorrow. Mick , Maddy & Nicky rang, it was nice to catch up with them. We fed the girls & decided to have happy hour sitting on the beach watching the sun go down watching the sun set, it‘s nice as there was a breeze blowing cooling it off. We walked back in the twilight & got tea & watched TV.
30-9-09 Well woke up to another
day in paradise, someone has to do it. There is a breeze today & only 29 deg supposedly , hope that’s all it gets to. We clipped the girls & they look beautiful, then talked to the neighbours again. We found a guy that does repairs to van , so we asked him to look at our air con, it is working OK but since Den screwed the loose screws back in it is noisy. We went & had a swim before lunch & the girls had a great time in the surf. We keep bumping into people that we have met in other parks, there are 2 more couples just pulled in today from Derby & Broome. We went for a long walk on the beach to see the “Lost City” rocks as the locals call it. These rocks are just coming out of the earth on the beach & are amazing. There are beautiful shells & rocks on the beach , just gorgeous. We must have walked about 4 km’s and we had a nice time. We got back to the van & the park had happy hour on & we went for a few drinks & got
back at about 7.30pm, we got tea & fell into bed, too much fresh air & sunshine. Woke up cold which was strange, but nice.
1-10-09 Happy Birthday Mick, have a good day. Den got up early & went to try his new rod out on the beach, he did not even get a bite, but he had fun. We did some hand washing, & tidied up & decided to stay another day. I tried to text Mick but the reception is not very good here, I tried all day without any success. We took the girls for a swim & we walked down the other end of the beach which was spectacular too. We then had lunch & I sorted our photos into some sort of order on the portable hard drive & also put new photos on our digital photo frame. Gary the caretaker who does repairs on vans came & fixed our air con that was vibrating & making a noise, we have silence once again. He only charged $20. Was worth it. I rang Mick for his birthday & was surprised to get through & we talked to Maddy & Nicky & wished her a
Happy Birthday for the 4th, as I don’t think we will have any phone coverage for the next few days. I got a baked chicken dinner ready & put it on in the Easy Cooker & we went down to Happy Hour again. I kept coming back to check dinner, we had two drinks & came home & had dinner (yummy) . We watched TV & I caught up with my diary & downloaded the latest photos. It has been about 29 deg today but is cooling off at night time which is great. Off to De Grey river probably tomorrow we will see how we go . I just got on the net first time in 4 days that I could so posting blog real fast.

Happy Days
Oh memories of Barn Hill, the Sunday roast and dance, the walk to the Pinnacles, seeing the feet of people sitting on the loo, (the walls are a foot off the ground), the cold shower, and the lovely trusting hosts who told us to 'pay next time' when we arrived with no cash. Luckily we found enough change between us to pay them. Cant wait to return one day, in 4 months it was one of our favourite stopovers.
