Tsingtao in the smog
This is the pier in Tsingtao, a little like blackpool but with a Chinese twist! Hello
We're in Shanghai now after a little trip to the seaside! We went to the town of Qingdao, or as we would know it Tsingtao (as in the beer). The brewery here was originally set up by German and British businessmen, no suprise there! It was strange how Blackpool like it is here, but it's had a huge European influence, there's even a Catholic church, not something you often see in China.
Obviously, we had to sample a little of the local fare, so after a lunch of fish (lots of pointing, shoulder shrugging, etc) and a rather large jug of Tsingdao (not good on a stomach that's not used to retaining food) we headed to the brewery for a tour. I think the photos let you know the frame of mind we were in!!
Again we had the usual China tour group experience, as we dawdled through, about 3 or four coaches piled past us.
We caught the train to Shanghai after 2 days, a 10 hour train we thought, 13 hours later, we got a bit worried, 16 hours later we were in the acceptance phase and 20 hours later we finally arrived, stinking
Happy Lisa!
Outside the brewery. and hungry! Settled into our lovely hostel now, and ready to hit the town!!!
Really appreciate all the messages, it's so good to hear from you all, miss you loads, wish you could be on the adventure with us.
Loads of love
Stuart and Lisa
