23-9-09 We got up today & had breaky & decided to go & up the street & go & have a look at the Derby Wharf again, as it was low tide . Den went to the bank & then we went to Woolworths & got some bread. From there we went over to the BP garage to see the Boab tree that has entwined itself with a gun tree. Gas was $1.20 per litre so we will run on petrol till we get back to Broome. We then went to the wharf & could not believe how low the tide gets, compared with the high tide. We drove around the Warf & took some pics & then headed for the Derby Take a way café for a coffee. We came back to the van & I went up & swapped some books, then we had lunch & I downloaded all the Horizontal Waterfall photos only 220 & started to name & date them, I soon got sick of that & we decided to go fishing at the wharf at 2.30pm . We threw our lines in as it was nearly high tide, the current was pretty strong, Den caught a small cat fish off the jetty & a local told him the fishing was better on the sand near the mangroves. So we packed up & walked there & threw in our lines & I caught a small cat fish too. Next ,poor Den got a snag & snapped his fishing rod in half, not happy Jan . It was very hot 38 deg, so I said that he could have my rod & stay fishing & I would go back & get tea started & pick him up later. I went back & put on two marinated lamb shanks & got the vegies ready & went back & picked him up. He had only caught another small catfish. We came back to the park, Den had a shower & we went to watch the sunset with the girls at a big old Boab Trees down the road. I went mad with the camera & took lots of pics, we had a drink looking at the sun set. We then went for a 4 wheel drive on the mud flats back to the Caravan Park as the last of the sun went down. We had tea (yummy) & watched TV. I fell asleep at 9.30pm & woke at 1.30 pm, so got up & finished going through the photos & posted two blog’s . Lorraine was up early & was chatting to me on Skype, could not talk as it would have woken Den. I finally got to bed at 6am, but felt better that I had got my diary & pics up to date.

24-9-09 Slept till 9am & got up feeling like I had been hit by a bus, very tired & it must be 30 deg already. We had breaky & did a load of washing, put the air con on & I finished my diary & Den caught up with the banking . We had lunch & watched the midday movie & I had a nanna nap. Den did some packing up & I prepared tea as we decided to go to the Spinafix Pub for a drink , or as it is known by the locals “The Spini”. Maddy rang as we were getting ready, & she had been to a 4 day pony camp & had a great time, I asked her if she had long days & she told me she had “Little Days” as the younger kids only rode for half the day. She is talking so well now. Then we talked to Mick & caught up on all the news & we walked two blocks to the pub. On the way I spoke to Merry & we arrived at the pub, it was old & quaint, we had two drinks & walked home. Some new people had arrived at the camp so we went & spoke to them & then back to the van & we cooked tea. I was in bed early as we are off back to Broome tomorrow for a few days before we head south. Up again at 12.15am so finishing this blog. Sorry about all the pics of the Boab’s at sunset I have fallen in love with the old trees.
