I don't do Blogs
I know I said 'I don't do Blogs', but by request I have started one, I've got to keep the fans happy! Don't worry though it will only be brief. This entry is a very quick catchup on my travels so far.
Cambodia
Fantastic country with some of the worse luck in the world. Met up with some great guys for a few days exploring the temples of Ankor, then went on a river trip, then went to the beach, then Phnom Penh to see just how bad the Khmer Rouge were.
Highlight: Trekking in mangroves.
Lowlight: Camera broke in rainstorm.
Photos More photos Vietnam
Didn't think I would like it, but I actually really did. Ho Chi Min City was great and had a few good nights out here, Hoi Ann was good although a bit too touristy, Hue was great and I did a fantastic motorbike tour.
Highlight: Cocktails in HCMC.
Lowlight: Spent a night sleeping on a bench in a roadside cafe when our bus wouldn't take us over the boarder.
Photos Laos
Great country side and chilled out people. Couple of days in probably the most chilled capital city in
Ankor Temple - Cambodia
My favourite temple, as featured in the film Tomb Raider. The jungles have taken over this place and it looks all the better for it. the world - Vientiane, explored Vangviang's rivers and caves, then cooking and trekking Langprabang.
Highlight: Swimming in a cave 1km inside a mountain.
Lowlight: Someone pissing on my shoes.
Photos Thailand
Was meant to spend a month here, but have been here before and it was either here or Borneo. Some described Thailand as Radio 1 and Borneo as Radio 4. I love Radio 4!
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia
KL was great, I am not a city fan unless you can easily walk around them. Although not always easy it was fun walking around KL and seeing the sights.
Highlight: Fish massage in china town
Lowlight: Getting properly lost in a park for an hour
Photos Borneo - Malaysia
My route in Borneo was slightly determined by my lack of booking ahead when needed. Did a refresher dive course in Semporna, then a bit of rain forest time in Sandikan/Sepilok, then mountain and islands around KK, finally more diving in Sipadan and other islands.
Highlight: Diving Sipadan - truly amazing diving - go there!
Lowlight: Lack of vegi food options, so many crisp dinners, that is a dinner of a packet of crips and maybe a 7/11
Hoi Ann - Vietnam
Some of the many many shops in Hoi Ann that has a strangely Mediterranean feel to it slurpy.
Photos Singapore
Some people slag Singapore but I really liked it. It is clean, easy to get around, everyone is friendly and there is loads to do.
Highlight: Great food in Little India
Lowlight: Hours is shopping malls looking for a new pair of shoes, I don't like shopping.
Photos And now
I write this back at home, but I am only at home for a pit stop for the wedding of the year. Catherine and Patrick's wedding in Tipperary was great, if I ever get married I hope that it is as perfect as their big day. This was also my first trip to Ireland and was amazed by what a great place it is, I will defo be going back when I get home. See pic of the Cliffs of Mohan near where the wedding was.
Anyway this was just a catch up on what I have been doing for the last 3 months. Next stop Perth.
