The Pinnacles
Strange natural standing stones Highlight: Kakadu National Park
Lowlight: Evil flies (and Aus is expensive, but everyone moans about that, so I wont)
Pictures To truly prove that I don't do blogs, not even travel blogs, here is my second travel blog entry.
Jet-lag, I don't know how
Marty McFly coped. I only traveled back and forward 8 hours in 2 weeks, he traveled over a hundred years in 2 weeks. Although I wasn't helped by the horrid wind and rain in Perth, it always looked sunny in Back to the Future (except for the big lightning storm, of course).
Anyway, after being told that it would 'just' be a week till the weather cleared up in Perth I quickly hit the road up north to the
Pinnacles . Then moved on to Denham (
Monkey Mia) to see the famous dolphins. Spent a relaxed couple of days here with the easy rider guys and then headed north for some diving in
Exmouth. On the way we ran over 10 kangaroos, which make a spine chilling sound when they hit the front of the bus and roll underneath (sorry for the mental image) . Unfortunately diving was canceled, so I spent the day on the beach
Aussie outback
This is nowhere interesting, just near a bus interchange in the bush, but it looks more Aussie than any of my other pictures and once again boarded the north bound bus. The good thing about going north is that every time you get off the bus it is a couple of degrees warmer. Got to
Broome where it was 38-40 degrees, did some kayaking and saw some beaches.
For the 1st time in 2500 miles I was not traveling north but east. Stayed at in Kurarrana for a few days, which is in
the Kimberley, much famed from the film Australia. There is one part of the Kimberlies called the
Bungle Bungles is famous for something else, that's right
Helen Daniels used to go on painting expeditions here. I hired a
Moke to get around which was cool, it is like a mix between a go-cart and the Beverly Hillbillies' car. Oh and I also saw some mini tornado/whirl-winds at close quarters.
Then on to Darwin to do some wreck diving and visit
Kakadu national park . Diving was okay, but Kakadu was fantastic with some of the most impressive scenery I have seen in Aus. As with most of Australia it is everything's shear size which is most impressive. Then went to
Litchfield national park for the day which was good although a bit of an anticlimax after Kakadu, butthe jumping crocks
Ahhhh
This is an orphaned joey that the people who ran the backpackers in Denham were looking after were awesome. Also saw a
Zombi Nazi movie at the
Deck Chair cinema, well how could I miss that!
Next stop Melbourne to see Shane & Lisa and explore Victoria.
Sorry if this entry has been too long, but well done you got the the end, treat yourself to a nice cuppa and a biscuit. If it wasn't long enough, you can read it again or make some stuff up.
Pictures. I have edited them so you don't have to look at all 700 pics that I have taken in the last month.
