MY HOUSEMY HOUSEMY HOUSE

Finally a picture of my house!
Hi. I'm going to try and write on here a little more often so it doesn't take me as long to write and thus it won't take as long for you to read. Wednesday I only have class from 3 to 5 in the afternoon. I slept until 10. It feels so great to sleep in. When I woke up, I could hear the Nana cleaning up a storm like she does every morning. I had a feeling she didn't know I was home, since she arrives around 9 and everyone is usually gone. I was right, she came into my room to clean and make my bed and she was surprised to find me still in it.
I got my lazy butt out of bed and ate some cereal for breakfast. I did homework for the next few hours until we ate lunch at 2. After lunch, I went to the university with Marcela. My classmates and I were waiting for our teacher when she arrived and told us the classroom had been changed. We trekked across campus to a new building we had never been to. It took us a bit to find it and our teacher was waiting

This is supposed to be a cheeto. You can't really tell but it is yellow. I'm dissapointed in the cheetoes of South America, lol.
for us. This classroom was much newer and nicer than our old one.
We use computers for this class so we watched some video clips and answered questions about them. The teacher showed us how to access the site so she can assign out of class homework. Soon it was 5 o'clock and it was time to go. After class I went running with Hayley. It was chilly since it was later than we usually run and the sun wasn't shining around the whole track. We ran a lap, walked a lap for 11 laps. After that I ran 5 more laps by myself to make in an even 4 mile total. We did some abs and then headed for our homes.
Once again, I didn't do much Wednesday night. I ate some leftovers and went on the computer. I took a shower and then skyped with my mom and dad. Later I skyped with Alicia.
Thursday I got up at 8:15 because Marcela was going to pick me up round 9 and we were going to go to the civil registration place to get my id card. I ate cereal again for breakfast. Jorge ended up taking me. We

The Lays snack mix I bought. It is cheetoes, potato chips and these snack stick things. Not the greatest. Probably won't buy that again.
went to the one at the mall but they do id's for foreigners there. Just citizens and car stuff. Next we went to the one downtown. It was the right place but there was a big line. I told Jorge he could go and I would wait since I didn't have class until 12.
So I waited... and I waited some more. If you think the DMV in America is bad, this place is worse. For some things you take a number and others you wait in line. You stand in line. There is no place to sit unless you are just waiting for someone that is in line. I waited for probably an hour before it was my turn. Everything went well except the lady wanted a color copy of one of my passport pages. She said I would have to go get one and bring it back before the end of the day. I paid my 4050 pesos and she fingerprinted me. They also take your picture. I'm not sure if everyone needs a color copy or she just wasn't satisfied with my black and white copy?
I wasn't exactly sure how to get to the downtown to

Jessica. Really happy to be using the internet!
make a color copy and I didn't want to get lost so I walked all the way back to campus (probably 10 blocks) to the Humanities building and had the secretary in the spanish department make me a copy. It was a long walk but hey, it was free. After I had my copy, I walked all the way back to the civil registration, literally just to hand the lady my paper. I guess your actual ID comes in the mail in about 3 weeks. Great!
It was about 11:15 by now. I was kind of hungry and very thirsty so I decided to go to the Santa Isabel store and get a snack and waste some time. I got a pop called "cuatro" and a little bag of Doritos. The Doritos here are basically the same but they only have Nacho cheese and Pizza flavors. I want to try the pizza ones someday but they didn't have little bags of them. I also got some Cherry mint orbit gum which is definitely not my new favorite flavor. It reminds me of Halls cough drops. yuck!
I walked back to campus and sat on the steps, ate my snack, and wrote in my journal for class until it was time to go to class at 12. In class at 12 we talked about some Chilean slang words. Then we talked more about the culture of Chile and how it differs from the US. Then we talked about the ways that people pronounce words here and how they are different from what we are taught. Not the most exciting class in the world but it is useful information. We were assigned a newspaper article to read. A bunch of the words are bold and we are supposed to have someone explain the significance of the words in bold to us. After class, Jessica and I decided to be brave and take the micro home. We walked to the street where the bus is (Maipu). We waited for probably 20 minutes before the one we needed arrived. Since I was on the wrong one or missed my stop last time, I made sure I paid extra attention. The ride seemed to be very quick. We weren't sure if the bus was going to pass our houses. In the morning I guess it does but in the afternoon it usually doesn't. It didn't this time. We got off a little ways from where we needed to be but not too far past. It was worth it since it is so much cheaper than taking a collectivo. I don't mind walking a little extra when I miss my stop when it is nice out. I will probably take the micro more, especially during the daylight when I have time to save some money.
When I got home I ate lunch. I had soup, pork, potatoes, and salad. Now Jessica is here borrowing our internet since she doesn't have internet at home. I would not like that at all. She can't even talk to her parents let alone get the e-mails and use the websites we need for class.
We are leaving for Chillan tonight after 6 and going skiing tomorrow. I am really excited. If I can get it worked out, I might stay with Hayley's family and Catie at their cabin tomorrow and go skiing Saturday too but I'm not sure yet if that is going to happen. My host mom said that the place we are going is one of the prettiest places. She said people come from all around to ski there. I heard that there isn't a lot of snow yet but it is supposed to snow a lot this weekend there. It is supposed to rain here in Concepcion this weekend. Sad, because it has been so nice and sunny the past few days.
Well that is all for now. Next update will be this weekend and I will share my lovely skiing pictures! :D Chao! Hope everyone is doing well! Miss you all.

passport copy
Cheryl, Sorry to tell you that we didn't need to have color copies of our passports. I don't know why they asked you for it. May be because you went by yourself and not with the group.Too bad you had to run around to make the color copies : (
