we got on a bus for valentines day, ahh true love, and headed for a town on the coast - ilheus. after the lengthy 7 hr ride which was only supposed to take 5 we got of the bus and sat to figure out our plan of action. in every town thus far this has consisted of going to the tourist office, talking to travels at the station, ringing a few pousadas, and trying to figure out what direction things are. well after about an hour of indecision and hearing less than glorious things about the town we jumped on another bus with a Norwegian girl and let the winds guide us to itacare´.
we still find ourselves in the town after a fantastic couple of days on the beach trying to surf, trying not to drown, me playing soccer with the locals and getting handed my ass, watching caporioer (sp?) on the beach and in bars, and running into interesting people from all ends of the spectrum. tomorrow we are headed to get surf lessons form a the son of the owner of ocean pacific clothing (he is 40) and seems like our best chance to learn this dam sport. both of us tried it today and were dutifully humbled by the waves and all of natures beautiful furry, sidenote....alana is 10 times the surfer that I am.
it won´t stop raining so we are getting our fair share of life in a tropical rain forest but sun is in the forecast for tomorrow and we have a great day ahead of us.
love to all from itacare..

forget the board, do the body thing
guys body surf. that's in. boards are out. Brazil's great contribution to the wave is the body surf, with flip just at the break. so beautiful. lovel Hobie Cat - Dr Tim
