flying to our vacation

I can’t tell you too much about the flight. I’ve been in 12 flights in the past year but every time we leave the ground I fall asleep. After some time I wake up and everyone around me is excited at being in a new place. Almost always the person sitting next to us - who at first had a very worrisome face as soon as he saw me boarding - compliments me on being such a good traveler. We then leave the MATOSH ( מטוש Liyabrish for: plane ) and wait for the stroller to arrive at the door.

When we arrived in Oslo it was so late I didn’t wake up till the morning. When I did finally wake up, my parents started singing. They kept telling me “EIA DOLA. EIA AMON GE GE SHNATAYIM” ( איה דולה. איה אמון גה גה שנתיים Liyabrish for: Liya is big. Its Liya’s 2nd birthday. ). Then we called TATA ESTI and BABA ELI AND ALSO TATA YAEL and BABA YOSHI and they too sang AMON GE GE to me.
That’s a nice start for a vacation!

our daily routine

From the first day we had a routine. We start with driving for a few hours. When I’m board I yell SHIR AMON GE GE! ( happy birthday song! ) and my parent put my songs on the radio . Usually I fall asleep at around 10AM. When I wake up after a while I find that my parent have parked the car in a nice place, opened the windows to let in the breeze and have also fallen asleep. We then drive some more, eat lunch and drive some more. Sometimes we leave the car a short walk and then I walk by myself. Sometimes we go for a longer walk and then I get to sit in the baby carrier. I see a lot of MO MO and ME ME and sometime DIO SUS ( horse )

At about 7pm we start looking for MALON ( hotel ). IMA goes out to look at the room and I stay in the car with ABA. I am always anxious when she returns and ask “MALON LO TOV?” ( is the hotel not good?). Sometimes it is good and sometimes it is not (apparently, when it’s not good it’s only for reasons that have to do with me - the swings are not good, the TV will not work, they don’t allow BAMBAM…). When we finally find a good place ABA opens my OHEL ( tent - a name for the fold up crib Liya sleeps in happily ) and IMA cooks us dinner. In the mean time I watch a DVD on the laptop - BLI HITOLIM ( “no dippers” ) or USHI [( Uzi Hitman) are my favorite. I like USHI because his name is like my new cousin’s name OEE ( Uri )

Every evening we call TATA ESTI and I ask her “ELI BA? SHAHAR BAA?” ( is grandfather Eli and Shahar at home ). And then we call TATA YAEL and I ask her “BABA YOSHI YESHNO?” ( is grandfather Yossi at home? )

Our food

I have no problem with the food in Norway. It’s so similar to Home. At first I didn’t believe Norway is so similar to Home so every time my parents offered me something I said “EIN..” ( there is none… ). After a few days
KristiansundKristiansundKristiansund

Vanndamman park tower
I changed my attitude and every time I was offered something I asked “YESH? ( we have it? ). But now that I know- I just ask for whatever I want.

In the morning IMA makes breakfast. Sometimes I eat PILPEL (red pepper), sometimes I eat a sandwich or sometimes I eat CHIROISH ( yep, you guessed Cheerios ) just like at home. Aba drinks KAFE ( coffee ) with PINGIN ( our penguin doll called Pingi ) and I yell “ICHS KAFE!”

We then go into the car where I can ask for any junk I want and I will immediately get it. For some reason my parent don’t mind me eating junk on the road. Something that has to do with me being quite and their obsession that I don’t be hungry - 2 things that are very important here and make no impact on them at home. Anyway, I can ask for BEGALE ( pretzels ) CHIPS ( potato chips ), OGIA ( cookie ) PRI ( fruit) or just say OCHEL! ( food!) and see what surprises my parents have. My biggest surprise is that there is BAMBAM ( peanut butter BAMABA
House EntranceHouse EntranceHouse Entrance

at Lærdal
snack found in Israel) here. My parents brought a whole suitcase of it.

At lunch we stop at a restaurant. Food in restaurants is very expensive (ABA said that a hamburger can cost up to 25 USD!) so a lot of times only I get a full meal and my parents eat my leftovers. I like OOF ( generic name for anything made of chicken - nuggets, schnitzel, roosted ) and TZITZA ( generic name for anything made of beef -hamburger, meatballs, kabab ). But most of all I like CHIPS ( French fries )

ABA and IMA usually wait until we get to the hotel and then IMA cooks up a good dinner with food we bought in the supermarket. I also like eating SALAD and CHIPS for dinner. A few times I ate some kind of yogurt that IMA insist is MAADAN SHEL TATA ESTI ( yogurt like grandmother Esti buys). It’s not, but I eat it anyway and play along with IMA’s game.

All day long I drink a peach juice that IMA is convinced is NITZ SHEL BABA OSHI ( juice like Grandfather Yossi buys ). it’s not, but it tastes sweet and if that’s what I need to call it so IMA understands, then I will…

Norway for kids!
-
playground with a view

I think Norway was invented by kids. Every place I go there is a playground. In the hotels, in the restaurants, in the cities and in the highway rest areas. They are always with DEDA ( swing ) and GESHA ( slide) and they are always in a most beautiful view. I get to play every morning (so I fall asleep in the car), every noon (so I fall asleep in the car again) and every time we arrive in the campsite (so I have a good appetite and so I fall asleep at night)

every afternoon we stop at the supermarket to buy things for dinner. The supermarkets are specially made for children. They all have a little ADALA (trolley) just for me. I go around and help my parents to buy things. they put their things in the trolley and i put my things inside. The supermarket people are very considerate. they put all the candy at my level so I can put stuff in without

my parents help. They also have many things with MIMOUSE (Mickey Mouse) on them.
I once found 4 different things with MiMOUSE in the same shop!

I need to finish now ….

Today, I learned the difference between AGAM ( lake ) and YAM ( sea ). In the sea there is HAMON MAYIM, HAMON KHOL (lots of water and lots of sand ) and in a lake there is only HAMON MAYIM ( lots of water ). Surprisingly a fjord is a kind of sea but has no sand. My parents have lots of discussions whether what we are looking at is a sea and fjord or a lake. It’s all the same to me…

Airlines are funny. 2 weeks ago I had to sit on my parents lap and could not have my own seat. On the way back home, just because I had AMON GE GE ( birthday ), I will have my own seat and I will have to sit on it during takeoff and landing and will not be on my parents lap.
While in Norway ABA and IMA complained

about the weather and rain and said next year on our vacation we will go to sit on a nice warm beach. I can’t wait… YALLA, YESH!

ROOM WITH A VIEW

The first thing I look for when we go on a vacation just me and Hagit is a secluded cabin with a wonderful view. The rest are only minor details. Unfortunately, these are hard to find in Israel and I made a long and complex search in the few success we had in the past -which we still remember fondly.
Norway itself IS a wonderful view so not surprisingly almost every place we slept in was a secluded cabin with a wonderful view. No effort.

Sleeping in these cabins in the biggest pleasure of our trip !

Top 5 cabins:

#5 Above Eidsdal we slept in an apartment overlooking the Norddals-Fjord. When we woke up to sky cleared for the first time since we arrive and we had a lovly2.5 hr walk through a meadow, lake and overlooking a fjord

#4 Not far from the pass on the Sognefjell in the Jotunheimen National Park we slept in a cabin that has a stream flow next to it. From the bed room we could see a torques lake and from the living room a prairie with sheep grassing

#3 In Bud we slept in a beautiful cabin overlooking the Atlantic ocean where we could see the sunset through the rain clouds

#2 At Nes we had a cabin overlooking the beautiful Lustra-fjord and Norway’s 2nd largest waterfall falling into it right I front of the window! The cabin had no running water. But what a view!

#1 At Loen we slept in a cabin next to a lighthouse. The window on the living room faced the most beautiful Ut-Fjorden all blue waters with snowy mountains surrounding it. WOW!

On photo page 2 you can see the huts we stayed in

Awesome photos!
I've never been to Norway, and now I want to go. Those pictures are awesome. And I find it rather cute that Liya tells a story from her point of view. And she is so cute too!
