they are gonna hate me for putting that up...
After a more or less enjoyable (how enjoyable can it really be to sit in a freezing bus with all your clothes on, your legs in angles not natural to any human being in order to sleep, and layovers involving getting off and on the exactly same bus in the (too) early hours) bus journey, the moment has come. Back again! Back in the Great Lakes State, home to Detroit the car capital, Travers City the cherry capital, and of course Constantine the seed corn capital.

Allison picks me up from the bus station and we head to her house for her family reunion: Lots of people with the same last name, lots of beer, lots of food, and a slip'n'slide (explanation for those non-Americans in the small readership of this blog later on). After some catching up accompanied by beer and hot dogs and a little ping-pong tournament, we head to the fire to - drink some more. But not only to drink, but also to enjoy the greates of all American inventions: Smores (= cracker + chocolate + melted marshmallow (or in danielle's case burnt)). Putting on a couple of pounds in a couple of hours (a pound an hour is a good estimate) we decide that, now that is is dark, the time is right for us to go slip'n'sliding. Off go the clothes, on the bikinis, and, unfortunately, the headlights of the cars. What is a slip'n'slide? A huge piece of plastic put on the ground, covered in soap and water with hay at the bottom to avoid collision (in our case with the gate). Then just go wild and slide! We manage to survive, although with minor injuries.

After a day of recovery, the next one brings a day at the beach. Ignoring storm warnings, we drive to Lake Michigan and find perfect wave-jumping weather. Awesome! To round off a more or less healthy day, a cholesterine attack a.k.a. fried chicken follows.
