We have spent almost exactly a month on some of the best beaches Jenna or I have ever seen. It has been a very relaxing slow moving month. Every island has its own personality and when you travel from one island to the next, especially in Thailand, you expect them all to be the same. All the islands that we visited were beautiful and they all had something different to offer. Our schedule for traveling from beach to beach was basically this; Wake up whenever, eat, lay on the beach and read, eat, take a nap, eat have a couple drinks and go to bed. I know I know hectic schedule right, well believe it or not after a month of this we were ready for a little city action.
Ko Samui was a great place to be we stayed in a cheap hotel on a busy street and had a lot of fun. For some reason or another Ko Samui is know for its beach. I can say that the area we stayed in had one of the worst swimming beaches we saw. So needless to say we only spend one day on the beach. The rest of the
time in Samui we walked a around and checked out the town. We also rented motor bike here. They rent motorbikes here and all you need is five bucks and your passport. We rented the bike for two days and spent a lot of time roaming around the island with a tourist cartoon map as our guide. It was really fan and we saw a lot. We actually saw a really beautiful temple and Buddha statue. The temple we saw was beautiful, it had very bright colors everywhere and it was huge. They had a Buddha that was about 60 or 70 feet tall. The temple had monks everywhere and they were pretty friendly. We also got a snow cone there or snow ice as they call it and the guy actually had a block of ice and and ice shaver to shave off the ice for our snack. Ko Samui was fun and they had a great party street that we spend a couple of nights on.
Ko Phi Phi was the beautiful small island that we went on a snorkeling trip on. Phi Phi had a beautiful beach with an awesome view, the only problem was that
the water never got deeper than about 2 feet. It was a beautiful bay to relax and jump around in but swimming wasn't that fun there. Anyway Phi Phi has many islands that you can visit with a short boat trip and that's what we did. Jenna and I signed up for a half day snorkeling trip that took us to a few of the islands and beaches in the area. One of the beaches they took us too was actually the beach from the movie "The Beach" its was beautiful but so were the others. The bad thing about going to that beach was that the boat couldn't drop us off in the bay so they had to take us around the back. Well this would have been fine built around back meant we had to climb over jagged rocks and over a bamboo ladder only to then walk on gravel for five minutes to get to the bay, oh yeah and we swam to those rocks so yeah we were bare foot. I don't think anyone came away from those rocks without a cut or a hole in their swim suit they were sharp. It was a nice
trip and Jenna got to do her first snorkeling which was really cool. The pictures of the very very blue water were from that trip.
Ko Phangan was the party island. They have four big parties a month and small ones everyday of the week. This is the island with the full moon party. Basically they have a giant our door rave, or dance party on the beach every month during the full moon. Jenna and I didn't get the chance to attend this party but we did go to the smaller Half moon party which was in the jungle. This was fun we started the night watching a fire show on the sunrise beach and then we took a "taxi" to the party in the jungle. The reason I put taxi in quotes is because a taxi is a pickup truck with bench seats and a cover over the back. So we took our wild dark crazy driving "taxi" to the party. The party was well set up and fun when you walk in, after you pay admission, you walk past people who will paint things on you with glow in the dark paint. Then as you get
to the main part there is a huge stage with platforms everywhere with people jumping and dancing. Now the reason everyone is jumping and dancing is one they want to and two the drinks are red bull vodka. So when you go to the bar they give u a small bucket, like a kid would use to play in the sand, and they fill that with ice two small red bulls and lots of vodka. After a few buckets we were drinking water, man we are lame but we had a lot of fun. Oh yeah I got painted by one of the ladies withe the florescent paint. She painted about The worst sun I have ever seen on my back... Brutal.
