I left Te Anau and ventured east towards Dunedin. I made it to Invercargil the first night and spent a night in a hostel there. Left this yesterday and drove the scenic route and the historic route checking out the lighthouses, numerous waterfalls, lakes and tracks. I ventured to the furthest south part of the Stouh Island and opted out of Stewart Island because it was $120 return fair on the ferry which was a little muchfor my travelling budget.

It was a nice drive with stops about every 30 minutes but it got tiresome because some of the waterfalls were very similar and the land scape shrank from mountains to lushgreen rolling hills which just kept going and going. Still amazingly beautiful though. I spent the better part of the day driving before trying to find accomodation but it appears most of the back packers were closed becuase of the winter so I couldn't find anywhere to sleep. I resolved to sleep in my car once all the motels I found were $85 at the cheapest. I stopped in at a local pub, bought dinner, had some drinks with the locals and got invited to stay the night at one of their houses so I wouldn't have to sleep in my car. They were very nice people, a 65 year old couple who worked in an Abbatoir... kind of an interesting profession but I managed well enough. We cahtted about my trip and I got some good insight as to where to go down here and then left the morning, saw some lighthouses and other sights before arriving here in Dunedin. I am staying here a few days and just going to enjoy the sights, the surf which I haven't been into for two weeks, and see the Otago penisula which is home to seals, penguins and an aalbatross colony.

I will keep you updated and try to get my photos up soon. Feel free to keep me updated on yourselves as well. I lvoe hearing from you and it's nice to have some news from home.

GO SEE PENGUINS!!! Penguins are super cute and awesome - although they are quite smelly. Think its fairy penguins down there so it wont be the same as the ones I saw in Antarctica but you know they are still pretty cool. Oh god I used a pun accidentally! I hate puns. Miss you! Keep having fun down under.
