Day 455 (10/7/09)
Back to the Bus station again this time bound for Bilbao. We headed straight for the Guggenheim museum, described as one of the worlds most impressive buildings. Past the random artistic monument which the Spanish love. We started with the tour of Chinese artist Cai Guo Qiang's ' I want to believe' exhibition. It was an awesome display of art using everything from cars, fireworks and doves. This political artist was also involved in China spectacular Olympic opening ceramony.
We wandered through the other sections; traditional art, film, past Franz Marc's 'Yellow cow” one of Jez's favourites and onto the contempory Picasso's and Van Gogh works.
We stopped for a light lunch and made our way out through Richard Serra's 'A matter of time' a life size maze and past the 10m flower 'Puppy'.
It wasn't until after we left (and saw all the posters and the stares from everyone else)that we realised we had been following Depeche Modes lead singer and entourage around the entire museum and down the street. Leanne and Brian left for their flight to Barcelona and headed back to the Motel to relax.
After a home made prawn salad and wine for dinner, we headed back to the museum for a few night pics (Jez can't get enough of water features).

Day 466
After a sleep in we headed into town for some window shopping, stopping by the supermarket to feed Jez's growing addiction of chorizo for lunch by the fountain. We wandered the streets stopping in the square for a couple glasses of Txaloli (traditional Basque wine), listened to the ashes and watched the locals go about their everyday life.
We caught the last hour of the tour de france, had a nap in the park and stumbled apon a display of Basque dancing, before it was time to make our way to the bus station for the overnighter to Barcelona.
