Bed at lodge
All written and assembled by Rachel

When we landed the first thing we noticed was the smell. It smelt awful. We went into the airport and collected our car so we could drive to our lodge.

In the morning we had a good breakfast before leaving for the local museum (We decided on the museum because it was raining. We also had it recommended by the people we were staying with). The museum was all about the history of New Zealand people and the world famous bath that were there.

At the museum we went into a cinema before going on a tour.
In the cinema they showed us a bit of history.Maori people believe that in New Zealand tourists started coming and destroying the place so the spirits were angry and made the volcano on a nearby hill erupted. In the cinema all the seats shook at that part. On the tour me and simon got a worksheet to do while we went round.

After the museum, we went down the road to see a spring that had smoke coming out of it.

Then we went to a Agridome which was all about farming. We managed to get on a tour just before it went. The tour was on a big tractor with a trailer behind it which we rode on. The tour went all around the Agridomes farm and we got to feed some of the animals. They also had a machine which made kiwi juice which they showed us on the tour. We got to taste some and we also got to taste some honey.

After the tour we went to a sheep show which was really funny. They showed us lots of different breeds of sheep and they also so sheared a sheep on stage. They got some volunteers up to help milk a cow. The people also demonstrated what their sheep dogs could do with some ducks so the animals didn't jump off stage. They had two different types of sheep dogs one that rounded the sheep up using their eyes and one that rounded them up by barking. The ones that bark(they had two)jumped on the sheep's back.

After the show we went into the nursery where they kept baby animals. There were some puppies and some goats. The goats you could stroke the puppies you couldn't. (Mum wanted a puppy!)

Maori surprise
What an interesting blog, Rachel. I envy you having so many varied and exciting experiences. I bet your mum was really daft about those puppies! All the museums sound such fun! Perhaps you might run an informative museum one day (possibly about planets etc). Have you been looking at the night sky ! Is it very different from watching in your back garden? The children here break up from school on Tuesday so they only have 2 more days to go!! I love hearing from you all. It makes me feel like I can enjoy your holiday as well. love G Sue PS I have given up playing the piano (you wont be surprised!).
