I said goodbye to everyone and went to the airport with my mom. After checking in, we had a long dinner then went to the gate. We said our fairwells and I boarded a Boeing 757 going to Iceland. I was seated next to a french man with bad teeth and a habit of hogging the armrest. When we took off he put on one of those eye things people wear to block the sun when they sleep and fell into a deep sleep with his mouth hanging open towards me, bad teeth and all. He also snore. If it wasn't for the inflight entertainment, he wouldn't have made it to Iceland alive.

After a long flight, I arrived in Iceland. I didn't find it particularly icy, the people I met in the airport were friendly and the landscape was more light brown than white. During our decsent, I was suddenly attacked by invisible needles all around the left side of my face, from nose up. When I boarded the next plane to Stockholm, the feeling disappeared when we took off. Only to rerturn as we landed. I still feel it but it's nowhere near as painful. I was met by Bengt, Pella and Mila (my mom's cousin and his two daughters) at the airport and we went to lunch. I had a peice of pizza with peices of kebab on it. I was starving so I thought it was delicious.

We made our way to their apartment and were met by Lena, Bengt's girlfriend. I got settled in and slept for two hours before getting up and chatting with the family for a while then heading back to sleep. When I woke up after an hour, it was time for dinner. We had lasange (is that how to spell it?) and after Pella and I had pistachio milkshakes (yes mom, I tried something green). After the milkshakes She and I played on the computer for a while. We played Spore and on a swedish game website. Then I chatted with Lena and found out that we both enjoy making jewelry. And finally, went to sleep.

Missing you
Maybe the invisible needles were really a rare kind of Scandinavian facial lice? Isn't that a lovely thought? I know how much you like such stuff. Bengt sent a picture of you and a big banana so we're over here building the backstory to it. Mighty big orangs in Sweden? A weapon to make armies slip all at once? Please, do tell us about the big banana. And which little one are you with? Looks too small to be Pella and too big, surely, to be Mila. Did you give them their gifts? I forgot to tell you that the thing with the star on it is a candle holder that's designed to sit in a wine bottle. Perhaps you can encourage the family to empty some to try it out... We're missing you heaps, but this blog is good, it makes it seem like you're not so far away. We'll call you tonight.
